2019 offical College Football thread

This certainly leave Clempson thin at QB now. If Lawrence goes down their season is over.

Kelly Bryant transferring

Bryant graduated last spring; he is a grad student now at Clemson; so, FBS schools are in the mix. Clemson will now be in major trouble if Lawrence gets hurt. They have 3 other QBs on the roster; all are true or redshirt freshman; two are walk-ons; the one that isn't a walk-on, Chase Brice (offered by WF) has no game experience.

Three of their other scholly QB's (Johnson, Cooper & Israel) transferred out after spring practice. Dildo sure hasn't managed this as well as Saban.

He's not named the starter for one game and he announces he's transferring? Lame. Good riddance.

Edit: maybe he realizes he's not as good as Lawrence and likely will be #2 the remainder of the season. Still weak. Try to win the job back.

So can he transfer now and play the remainder of this season somewhere? Wake has an open scholly with the news that one of the new running backs is no longer playing FB and has moved off FB scholarship. That would be one very interesting maneuver.

No. Bryant can transfer and play next season where he wants to.

I read it as dabo was more upfront with bryant than saban is with hurts.
Jalen hurts has one bad half and is benched. And saban lashes out at the media for asking about the qb controversy.. which he created.

One bad half in which the replacement went on to win the national championship.

Tua is more talented. He deserves to start.I just think saban is a prick for not levelling with hurts.

Lawrence is more talented then Bryant and I doubt Dabo called him into his office and leveled with him.

Tua and Lawrence were always more talented. The only difference is which week the head coach pulled the trigger on benching the upperclassman starter and the reaction of the displaced quarterback.

Also, Hurts has two years left of eligibility left, but Bryant has only one. Everyone seems pretty certain that, unless something major changes, that Hurts will transfer after the season, and play his final year somewhere else. Bryant didn't have that option.

Pretty amazing that Hurts and Bryant faced off against each other in the National Semifinal (which many thought was the de facto NC Game - just to avoid hurting Biff's feelings - UGA proved to be worthy as the 2nd best team last year) as a sophomore and junior after leading their teams to a combined record of 22-2 last year, and now neither one is starting and it's likely both will transfer.

Smart move by Bryant. I wish him the best. He’s a good QB.

Hurts has 2 years left only if he doesnt red shirt. Can he sit on the sidelines, not play, and get red shirted after the year is over?

The rule is he can transfer and play next season if he plays 4 games or fewer this season. Wonder if Dabo is kicking himself for not starting Bryant one more week to lock him for the rest of this season.

If Hurts plays this week (and Bama plays some ridiculously bad opponent), Hurts will have played his 5th game, and will have only one year of eligibility left. If Hurts plays this week (and it appears he will), because Hurts never redshirted, he can either:

- Sit out next year as a transfer, and play his final year in 2020, or
- Graduate early, and play his final year in 2019.

Unlike Hurts, Bryant had played 3 previous years at Clemson and had played in 4 games this year, so, if he didn't transfer this week, he would have lost his option to play a full-season as a starter somewhere else.

Will he transfer to another school and immediately start taking classes, or finish out the semester at Clemson? Could make for a lot of awkward interactions.

In addition, I presume either or both of these guys could enter the NFL draft next spring. Any school signing one of them for the spring 2019 semester could see them leave for the NFL by the end of the semester.

Hurts and Bryant aren't going to the NFL as quarterbacks and they don't know how to play much of anything else.
