GOP Sleeping With Our Enemies

Interesting plot development:

Last summer, Erickson sent two wires for $15,000 to a California company established by the son and brother of Jack Abramoff, a disgraced former lobbyist who is Erickson’s longtime friend, political ally, and business partner. The company, Landfair Capital Consulting, was incorporated in March 2017. Abramoff’s son, Alex, a recent college graduate, is the CEO and sole director; Abramoff’s brother, Robert, is the registered agent. Because the company was newly established and based out of the home of Alex Abramoff, who does not list it on his public profiles, bank investigators flagged it as a possible shell company established to hide Jack Abramoff’s interests.

Brilliant work by the Russians. Need to influence US politics? Target a lonely 50-something and get him to pay your spy to infiltrate his networks.

But where would you find a lonely 50-something in the Republican party?

I wonder if the Russians have tried to infiltrate liberal movements. Maybe flip one of those women from Pussy Riot or something.

Probably easier to flip a Russian hating Republic... oh.

"Butina was a graduate student at American University, which prosecutors say was a cover for her work as a Russian political operative in the United States. One source told CNN that Butina — seemingly unconcerned with blowing said cover — claimed during a class that she was an envoy between the Russian government and the Trump campaign. Not that she was doing a lot of classwork — according to the indictment, an unnamed American working with her completed most of her assignments on her behalf."

I was wondering about that.

GOP lawmaker met with alleged Russian agent in DC and St. Petersburg: report

Rep. Dana Rohrabacher (R-Calif.) once dined with the Russian woman who was indicted earlier this month on charges of acting as an unregistered foreign agent of Moscow, according to ABC News.

The network reported on Thursday that Rohrabacher’s office confirmed he met with the then-28-year-old Russian at French eatery Bistro Bis in Washington, D.C., in February 2017.

In addition, federal officials told ABC that Butina had arranged a meeting two years earlier in St. Petersburg that Rohrabacher attended.

Sleeping with Dana should get that woman a dacha, a few million and the Order of Lenin.

Had to laugh at the ad placement here.

Maybe she, Carter Page, Manafort, Donnie, Jr. and Daddy can sail away together to Terminal Island.

In tonight’s episode of The Americans: The GOP Treason Years...

...conservative activists including the wife of the former NRA President ask a Russian spy for help in purchasing 5 Million barrels of jet fuel.

Wife of Former N.R.A. President Tapped Accused Russian Agent in Pursuit of Jet Fuel Payday

WASHINGTON — For the young Russian gun rights activist studying in the United States, it would have been an unimaginably rich payday: $1 million to help broker the sale of Russian jet fuel to an American middleman. All she had to do was secure the fuel.
...
Ms. Butina’s efforts to deal in Russian jet fuel, detailed in hundreds of pages of previously unreported emails, were notable not just for their whiff of foreign intrigue but for who they involved: David Keene, a former president of the National Rifle Association and a prominent leader of the conservative movement, who has advised Republican candidates from Ronald Reagan to Mitt Romney. They also involved Mr. Keene’s wife, Donna, a well-connected Washington lobbyist, and Ms. Butina’s boyfriend, Paul Erickson, who ran Patrick J. Buchanan’s 1992 presidential campaign and who moved in rarefied conservative circles despite allegations of fraud in three states.
...

“I knew they didn’t have any clue, because there’s no port in the world that could hold the amount of oil they were saying they could sell,” said Yoni Wiss, the Israeli-American who briefly met with Ms. Butina and Mr. Erickson in June 2017.
