2018 Ballot Measures

Thread of ballot measures, jealous of this Michigan one:

Interesting, especially the STAR voting.

Given how extremely close the Senate and governor races were in Florida, there may be enough new voters registered under this amendment in the next few months to have changed the result in both races last November.

Maybe. But people thought the influx of Puerto Ricans would do the same thing. There are probably more white men felons than other races combined. That could swing to Republicans especially rural white male felons.

True. At this point I'm just hoping for the best. Something needs to break the Democrat's way in states like GA or FL for them to finally get over the hump. They're getting closer, I was just hoping that maybe this would help. Of course, ending purging voter rolls, voter restrictions, and other laws would help too.

And that is absolutely fine. Democrats should not criticize any former felon that gets voting rights back and votes Republican. This is bigger than our bullshit we all yell about on here every day. This is about giving fundamental rights back to those people that have been neglected for far too long. Even if every former Florida felon that gets voting rights back votes Republican, I’m 100% OK with it.

Agreed. The job is to earn their votes.

Automatic voter registration measure could appear on November ballot in Ohio

Ohioans would automatically be registered to vote upon applying for or renewing a driver’s license or other state-issued ID, under a proposed constitutional amendment submitted to the state on Wednesday.

The amendment, backed by the ACLU and other groups, also would allow eligible Ohioans to register to vote and cast a ballot on the same day throughout the early voting period. This would reinstate and expand what previously was referred to as “Golden Week,” which state lawmakers eliminated in 2014.
