Official Champions League 2018/2019 - New & Improved: Arsenal AND Chelsea Free (NWT)

Champions League qualifying rounds have now reached the point where everyone left will either make it to the Champions League group stages or will fall back directly into the Europa League group stages, so it's probably worth starting to talk about it. There's a few good match-ups this round already - Celtic is taking on AEK Athens, Standard Liege and Red Star Belgrade and the big one - Benefica and Fenerbahce.

For the group stages - Liverpool should be big Fenerbahce fans, because they will jump up to Pot #2 in the draw if Benefica is eliminated. Otherwise the first two pots are now set, with Manchester City being the only Premier League team in Pot #1 (Manchester United and Tottenham are in Pot #2). Other than potentially Liverpool, there's no real chance of a group of death because Pot #3 and Pot #4 look pretty weak this year ... could be a very boring group stage.

And if you are traveling to England to watch the Champions League this year - remember that the only location in the city you can watch it live is in North London, specifically in the N17 postal code.

Kinda silly Liverpool could be that lowly seeded after making the final last year. Not being in Europe at all in '16-17 hurting them big style, but seems teams who make the final should get more points

UEFA Champions League points system
First qualifying round elimination – 0.5 points
Second qualifying round elimination – 1 point
Group stage bonus participation – 4 points
Group stage win – 2 points
Group stage draw – 1 point
Round of 16 bonus participation – 4 points

Clubs are also awarded an additional point if they reach the round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals or final.

You do get more points for going deeper in the competition - Liverpool got 30 points last year, only Madrid got more (32). The problem for Liverpool is the coefficient is a rolling 5 year combination and they also missed out on European football in 13/14 as well as 16/17. They also only got 10 points for their 14/15 campaign.

Look everyone, this RUBE thinks that England and London are the same thing.

Didn’t realize the Catholic Church’s favorite team made the CL

That’s at least a fun as shit group for Liverpool. That will be some really good soccer — what it’s all about. Plus, can’t wait to see Klopp fry that droid Tuchel’s circuits again and piss lager all over his teetotal corpse. Nerd.

That's how i feel about barcelona's. Although despite it being a tough group Valverde should be fired immediately if we don't make it out.

Fun history between poch and valverde. Stoked for the challenge. Coys
