NCAA Allowing Agents to Rep Players, Undrafted Players to Return to School (NCAAB)

The NCAA has a big hole in this unless HS players can go directly to the league. In this plan, "elite HS seniors" can sign with agents. This could create an absolute mess and has all sort of cheating possibilities if kids can't go directly to the NBA.

During the evaluation period agents could front kids and their families any amount of money or cars or lodging. Boosters for KY, Duke or other schools could become approved agents and effectively pay the kids to go to their favorite school with "advances".

According to what I read, the NCAA didn't think this all the way through. Part of their plan allows HS students to work with agents beginning July 1 before their senior year in HS. That could impact kids HS careers. State high school athletics governing bodies would need to approve, or some HS kids could find themselves ineligible for their senior season of HS basketball (and possibly other sports). "unintended consequences."

ETA:

Wake's Sage Surratt could have been a case in point. Really good at football and basketball. If he worked with an agent over the summer between his jr and senior years in HS, would that have made him ineligible to play his senior year of HS football? Under current rules in many states, yes. Good result for the kid? Doesn't sound like it.
