Jayson Werth: NERDS are ruining MLB

Agree. Simmons made a good point abt this the other day. Boils down to the fact that besides some infield defensive play, baseball is really almost an individual sport. It requires much less chemistry than basketball, hockey, football or soccer. There is also not really any 'style of play'. That is why it is so easy to over stat everything. He made the point that you can argue all day about whether Westbrook is a better player on a better team etc etc, but if you ask whether Machado is a better player than Harper, its just a avalanche of stats.

This, combined with the unwatchability of a 4 hour game in today's snapchat culture, is why I think baseball will continue to lose ground unless they make rule changes to seriously speed up the game. There was a stat out the other day that said there is an average of almost 4 minutes between balls in play. That is fucking nonsense. They have to have a pitch clock or they will continue to fade.

Outside of his silly perspective on analytics, it sure seems like he got jobbed by Boras.

shit gets real when your 10 million a year job goes away and you are offered scraps for the same job...getting old sucks!

He wasn't going to get $10M at his age. Maybe it's karma for fucking a teammate's wife.
