here is a much more accurate take: historically, elements of ideas championed by socialists (among others) have been successfully implemented within capitalist societies and worked reasonably well, or sometimes less well; in any event, the only way these limited "socialist" programs have any chance to be successful is if they are contained and constrained within a capitalist system that produces the necessary wealth to finance and maintain them

how many of these programs and in what form or to what extent they have been implemented, has varied from country to country, depending on the degree of willingness of the population to embrace them and to finance them

socialism left on its own, without capitalism to restrain it and to finance its programs leads to economic decline, disaster and often to mass murder

Be SPECIFIC in what I said was wrong or superficial.

Neither capitalism nor socialism can successfully exist without the other unless man is perfect. By nature man yearns for better and what's next. Without capitalism, progress is much slower and much, much less likely. Without socialism, the ills of capitalism aren't corrected.

Each has to have limits and must work together.

I mean you can start with the ports on the West Coast of the United States that are completely unionized. 90% of the port authority jobs are antiquated pencil pushers that are uneliminatable due to union strong holds, and those Unions are forcing wages over 6 figures for jobs that are passed down from family member to family member. Additionally when these unions decide to strike to increase the 6 figure wages for jobs that shouldn't exist, huge backlog of trade happens forcing cargo ships to line up into the pacific, crippling trade and devastating hard working capitalists trying to build business create wages, and generate actual wealth for themselves and employees.
