It will be a debate on interpretation of procedure regarding the FBI’s customary stance on background investigations.If accusations remain which have not yet been publicly aired then the D’s can push for re-opening. The R’s will argue the legal point of order and remind the Dem committee members the FBI’s role in this setting and re-direct the Dems to the Senate’s place in these matters. Dems will howl about the rules because the aim is to circumvent the R majority Senate. So the court of public outcry and derision will once again be the method for the tantrum addicted D’s

The initial claim got the ball rolling and on this coming Sunday night —like clockwork— another leak on the eve of the supposed hearing on this matter. This leak will not have any specifics but will attempt to serve 3 purposes, (a) delay the testimony (b)force the FBI to open further background check on Kavanaugh (c) force Kavanaugh to face more withering political abuse for having had a role in a special counsel enquiry of a man charged with numerous sexual misconduct allegations.

Anyway, DiFi is powerful enough and Dem enough to be able to sidestep any ethics violations that may arise if she fudges the seriousness of the additional unredacted claims.

The prediction:

So, after Sunday night’s newest leak, we will have a day of pandemonium and hair-on-fire calls for how “the FBI cannot just stand idly and watch the erosion of Justice” and other such florid and hyperbolic descriptions which will surely flow from the indignant mouths and pens at NYT,WAPO and CNN. The day of Pandemonium will lead to a quick response from R’s to agree to allow the FBI to re-open and thereby giving the R’s their Monday hearing..the following Monday.

These events will be based on the additional info Difi held in tow. The Sen from California has always been a very keen and effective political operator.
