Official 2018-19 NBA Season Thread - NBA Finals Raptors Win #WeTheNorth

don't feel like Hoiberg ever got a fair shot at things with the Bulls

problem is at the GM level

You guys qualified for the World Cup yesterday.

Can we all agree that Rick Carlisle has now proved he is more wizard than bball coach. I can't believe what he does with this Mavs team.

His best +/- lineup consists of JJ Barea, Luka Doncic, Dorian Finney-Smith, Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell. So basically a dwarf PG, 19 year old euro wonderkin, a trash heap 3 and D SF, a German PF not named Dirk and a PF playing C in Dwight Powell

John Collins has put up 19 and 11, 24 and 11, 26 and 14 in his last 3 games, while shooting well over 50% each game and hitting a couple threes. Kid might turn out to be a really good NBA player if he keeps improving at the exponential rate we’ve seen out of him since he was in HS.

He seems to excel when given more than 8 minutes a game. Not all coaches see that right off, though.

Exactly

The fact that Collins played so sparingly as a freshman is another knock on Danny

So Danny was was supposed to bench a senior all ACC player at center or one of the team's best returning 3 pt shooters at PF in favor of a non-top 100 freshman with almost no outside shooting capability? He was 0-1 CAREER three point shooting at Wake.

Do you even math, bro? Look at the numbers. Then come back and explain how it was so impossible for Collins to play more than 14 minutes a game.

Lol, Grant O'Brien was getting playing time over John Collins at times his freshman year (and no, Collins was not in foul trouble, either). Some people have bad memories around here.

sweet. now we know to ignore your opinions on basketball.

There are a lot of things to knock Danny on, but JC is not one of them. JC would get a quick foul or two. Among the things that could have happened are JC could have gotten frustrated and/or he could have gotten a rep of lots of fouls or other things.

People also forget that Devin (and like to put him down) averaged a double/double that year and was in the Top 10 in ACC blocks. We also had Dinos and wanted to get some minutes for Doral.

Getting 2-4 more mpg is of negligible value (with the bigs we had, he wasn't going to get 10 more mpg). And if you take the possibility of frustration or getting a rep, those minutes could have had a negative impact.

Devin was miserable and out up big stat lines against shitty teams only

Plenty of people, including me, thought it was bat shit crazy that Collins wasn't playing more especially when it was obvious the team sucked again

To be fair, even people who saw it happen should have a tough time believing that Collins only played 20+ minutes 4 times as a freshman even though he scored in double figures 13 times.

Anybody remember the circumstances around this 93-91 loss at VT in which Collins only played 5 minutes?

Grant O'Brien got into a TOTAL of 10 games that season. After the first three games, he only played 5 minutes in one game, in garbage time versus BC. All of his other minutes were in blowouts. He played 3 minutes versus VT- JC had 4 fouls in that game.

Ayo has no clue what he's talking about in making this inane and totally inaccurate post.
