Official 2018-19 NBA Season Thread - NBA Finals Raptors Win #WeTheNorth

Pop and Kawhi spoke for a few minutes after the game. In his post game interview, Pop said it was wrong for Kawhi to get booed. Is Pop coming up with a Jedi move to get Kawhi to come back to San Antonio to play with Derozan, Poetel and the shooters?

The Spurs could trade Aldridge and Pau to clear the cap space. :)

why is forward progress hard? at a minimum, you could tell if a ball breaks a first down marker/goal line; the exact spot after that binary determination isn't as important

because forward progress and when a play ends is by definition subjective based on when an official thinks the play has run its course

He literally had both feet out of bounds with no part of his body inbounds. None. Never seen anything like it. Kudos to KD for having the cahunas to even try and sell that as in. He twisted his body up like he was barely keeping it in bounds and created some sort of weird Ricky Jay sleight of body to con the ref into thinking nobody does that unless they are at least trying to stay in bounds.

Have watched it several times this morning and can’t stop laughing.

Obviously the ref got mixed up with college rules where your body can be out of bounds as long as the ball doesn’t break the plane. Like downing a punt on the 1.

Why do we have human beings still officiating professional sports? I don’t think we are ready for all AI, but we should be headed that way.

We should already completely be done with spotting footballs, homeplate umpires calling balls and strikes, and FG calls for sure.

Because there is no incentive for the leagues to go that route. Bad officiating, especially in key moments, generates discussion about the sport, which increases ratings. Nobody talks about good officiating, and you obviously haven't stopped watching because of bad officiating. The human element is a main reason why people watch sports. If you want to see automated officiating, go watch someone play Madden.

I actually have watched considerably less NFL in part because of bad officiating. Mostly because the league office are a bunch of corrupt asshats that hate fun and player autonomy.

OWGs would enjoy it more. They could complain about how these computers are ruining everything ! Human element ! Millennials !

And the tracking can stop when the ref blows his whistle and the ball should be placed at the forward most spot.

doesn't work on the ones where the receivers catch it, backtrack to try to make a play, and get tackled short of the furthest afield the ball ever was

not a big deal, but a quirk in the tracking system

setting the chains on an eyeball and then measuring it down to an inch is the dumbest thing

Bucks played the Kawhi laugh from the Toronto press conference months ago when at the end of their game recently when Toronto committed a TO. Good stuff.

I didn't bother to search for a Bz specific thread, so I'll post here.

Thunder-Spurs in 2OT. 2:16 left. Spurs up 148-143. LMA has 52. Russ has 24 assists. Derozan missed two midrange potential game winners.

Steven Adams had the best intentional FT miss I've ever seen. Front rim, went right back to him, and he kicked it out to a shooter who wasn't quite ready for it.

LMA had the 2nd most points in Spurs history behind the DRob scoring title game.

The Bucks could have drafted John Collins instead of DJ Wilson. That might be the difference between winning a championship and not even making the finals.

Official 2018 NBA Season Thread: Rockets: "Welcome [redacted]! Bye Melo."

The NBA draft is a wonderful equalizer. Any team who hits on their draft picks for 4 years in a row and spends wisely can be a contender. The “problem” is when you do that and then sign a top 3 player, you’re unbeatable.

The Hawks are on their way. Young and Huerter look like NBA players. Their attempt to duplicate Steph and Klay. If they can get Bol Bol or one of the Duke wings in the top 5 then get the other position with the Mavs pick, that’s a young core.
