Official 2018-19 NBA Season Thread - NBA Finals Raptors Win #WeTheNorth

USA Basketball Roster for the World Cup In China in September:

Harrison Barnes
Jaylen Brown
Kyle Kuzma
Brook Lopez
Kris Middleton
Paul Milsap
Donovan Mitchell
Julius Randle
Marcus Smart
Jayson Tatum
PJ Tucker
Myler Turner
Kemba Walker
Thaddeus Young

Coaches are: Popovich (HC), Kerr, Jay wright and Lloyd Pierce.

That is one of the worst US international teams since 92. YUCK!

That team had multiple Hall of Famers and a bunch of really good players. They would destroy this group.

Not knowing the other rosters, that team might be vulnerable.

Kemba is the only All-NBA player on that roster. Greece, Serbia, and France may have one each as well and those three will be the best players in the tournament by far. Even Canada and Australia could have solid squads to challenge this USA team.

Seems like the T-Wolves would need to include more assets. Man, if OKC gets even more picks out of this and they get Teague, that would be nuts. They’d still have a passable roster and even more assets.

bill simmons keeps saying that the wolves are interested in a teague + dieng for cp3 trade, but I can't make the numbers work at all in the trade machine

JT & Dieng make a total of $35.2M versus $38.5M. Isn't there a vig for something that close?

If they added Jake Layman. The numbers work.

How did I miss Kawhi trying to recruit PG 13 to the Spurs?

Also, that FIBA roster sucks, but Popovich will coach them to a win.

I wouldn't take Paul from OKC without a pick attached. They have roughly eleventy-billion of them, so make them give one up to get off that salary.

a deal would include some picks i'd imagine, but i don't think that changes the cap math

teague is on an expiring, so more about clearing more cap space than getting teague

chris is going to make $38mm this season at 34-35 years old; good for him!

Teague makes $19m. If they are getting him to clear space who are they going to sign for $19m better than Teague? Terry Rozier? Teague the player is more valuable than Teague the cap space.

The only picks that have value would be from OKC. All those Clippers and Houston picks are basically second round picks.

Whether you have a 12" pile of shit or a 24" pile of shit, you still have a pile of shit.

Among other picks:

OKC has Miami's 1st round pick in 2021.
Rockets 1st round pick in 2021
Hawks 1st round pick in 2022 (top 14 protected)
Clippers 1st round pick in 2024 (by then, George and Kawhi may be long gone)
Rockets 1st round pick in 2024 (by then, Houston may have substantially regressed)
Clippers 1st round pick in 2026 (see above)
Rockets 1st round pick in 2026 (see above)

In addition to those picks, the Thunder have their own first round pick each year; the Nuggets first round pick next year, the 76ers 1st round pick next year (top 20 protected) and several other years when they can force either or both the Rockets or the Clips to swap their first round picks.

In all, OKC has the rights to 18 first round picks between now and 2026. Not all of the picks are equivalent to 2nd round picks.

You’ve got the 76ers pick backwards. Sixers own the Thunder’s 2020 1st rounder, top 20 protected. If it falls in the top 20, it becomes 2 2nd rounders.

See atl for reference . Keep in mind that high school players will probably be back in the draft in a year or two which means lower 1st rd picks will have more bang for your buck, especially in year 1.

Or due to great management and desirable destinations, Houston and the Clippers stay strong and their picks are crap. That's far more likely.

Collins is on the NBA Select team that will scrimmage Team USA.

Why do you LIE?!!?!

Here's something to think about and discuss- Are NBA players about to kill the golden goose by demanding trades with years left on their contracts?

I am all for guaranteed contracts and totally opposed to the one-sided NFL contracts. However, if NBA players want to have 4-5 years guaranteed contracts, they should honor them. If you want to be able to move, sign for two years.

If others continue actions like AD and PG-13, why should teams give players long-term guaranteed contracts?

I would be very surprised if this doesn't become a major issue when the parties start negotiating a new CBA next year.
