No. There are media narratives about every franchise. Most of them are narratives over several seasons.
The Spurs narrative over the last several years was "when will the Spurs dynasty/Pop era end" Then it happened even in the midst of one of the biggest stories of the last 8 months and there haven't been stories acknowledging that it happened. Patty Mills is the only player left who was on the 2014-15 team. Nobody would be surprised if Pop announces this is his last season or more likely just retires at the end of the season.
Media have reported each step in this transition, but I haven't seen the national sports media go ahead and call it.
Pilch, I'm curious how media is going to cover Lebron and the Lakers' pursuit of KD, Kawhi, and other free agents. For me, the question is if they willing to sacrifice a promising young core for aging stars to appease Lebron? I didn't realize they weren't starting Lonzo and Kuzma in the opener. Then Lebron signed, the narrative seemed to be that Lebron was willing to go to LA and mentor young players even though there wasn't much chance at a championship. Now it seems like he may alienate the young players and ruin LA's long term prospects like he did in Cleveland.
