A few tidbits going into Wake's first exhibition:

  • Belmont Abbey, a private D2 school in Belmont, NC with an enrollment under 1,500, finished last season with a 12-18 record, finishing in 8th place in the Conference Carolinas
  • They made a “magical” run in the Conference Carolinas Conference Tournament, making it all the way to the conference final, upsetting top-seeded King in the quarterfinals
  • They return their top player, Junior guard DeQuan Abrom, who made the Conference Carolinas First Team last year. Abrom averaged 20.2 ppg, 3.6 rpb, 2.4 apg, and 1.4 spg.
  • Belmont Abbey was picked to finish 6th in the Conference Carolinas preseason poll. They received no first place votes.
  • Belmont Abbey lost their first exhibition game at Campbell, 56-83. They shot 38% and turned the ball over 22 times against the Camels.
  • They also have a player named ThankGod Avar.
  • They are, objectively, not good.

Looking forward to a competitive game!

I’m taking the Camels. Who wants to take the Deacs???

Bad news. I heard that BA beat ECU by 10 in a scrimmage game the other day.

What precedent do we have for teams swapping coaches during an exhibition. We might even throw in a Chill and a Chaundee to call it even????
