Election Day 2018

Sinema's team sure, but with a significant assist from Trump. Midterm voting was way up all over this year due to his presence in the WH.

Trump is a despicable piece of shit human being, but damn if he hasn't done more for Democratic political enthusiasm than any non-Obama Democrat since JFK.

People showed up big time in 2008. But Obama didn't get them to show up in the midterms.

Bush got Democrats to show up in the '06 midterms.

In at least three states, Republicans lost the popular vote but won the House

It'll be interesting to see if he wins. Control of the election system in America has historically been given to state governments. If a court stops this, I'm wondering if the GOP will complain about the courts interfering with states rights. Given that its a Republican making the complaint, probably not.

It would be pretty screwed up to tell people they are voting under a ranked-choice system and then not count their second vote.

Like a Republican cares.

Dayum.

Gerrymandering is absolutely egregious and certainly in effect, but those popular vote totals are meaningless for district apportionment. Even if all districts have similar population, not all districts will have the same voter participation. Republican dominated districts with weak competition probably had much lower turnout than competitive districts with strong Dem competition. Dem turnout was way up even in districts where the Dem candidate was unopposed or a shoo-in.
