2018-19 College Basketball Season-Long Thread

I just read that the Iowa radio guy is suspended for two games because he was caught on a live mic at halftime criticizing their team... just imaging what Stan must be thinking, and probably saying off-air about our program, sheez! Poor guy must be praying that football never ends...

Good thing is football ends late December and baseball begins early February. Stan only has to suck it up for about a month and a half or so. Then again, those 45 days may feel like 3 years to him thanks to Deacon basketball.

The only impressive ACC team last night was FSU, though Syracuse surprised me a bit. UVA did well enough to beat a fairly impressive Md team, but that was not their best defensive effort. And they really need someone not named Jerome, Guy or Hunter to step up on somewhat of a consistent basis. But I'm beginning to believe they're over-ranked at #4 and that they're going to be much more vulnerable in the post on defense than they've been in the last several years. And while I'm always rooting for the ACC, it's not that disappointing to tie the thing by losing the last game when Michigan is absolutely spanking UNC.

The B1G couldn't pass up on that Cullowheeeeeeeee TV market for the BTN

Radford beat Texas tonight.

They also have a win at Notre Dame. Impressive.

Three Big Ten conference games today. December 1. Ugh.

So Furman is #122 in KenPom after a double OT win over Western Carolina, but ranked in the AP top 25.

Pitt lost to #270 Niagara last night.

They are 8-0 and won at Villanova and at cindarella Loyola Chicago. Shows the difference between human perception and computer models. A lot of voters will look at their record and their win at Villanova (and to a lesser extent at Loyola) and say a #25 ranking is deserved. The models consider the 2-point 2OT win at home againts WCU, the 2-point OT win at home against Gardner-Webb, and the fact that Loyola is nowhere near as good as they were last year.

Furman's remaining OOC schedule is trash except for a game at #50 LSU. Two other SoCon teams with losses are rated ahead of Furman: #79 Wofford (20 point win at S. Carolina) and #69 UNCG (coached by the next Bobby Knight).

Here are the remaining CBB undefeateds (with KP rank):

#2 KS
#3 UVA
#4 Zags
#5 Michigan
#6 Nevada
#11 Texas Tech
#37 Buffalo (wonder if Ikenna is rethinking the transfer decision)
#40 Houston
#42 Arizona State (has an OT win over WF victim Cal State Fullerton)
#49 St. John's
#122 Furman

According to KP, the only two teams with a better than 1% chance to finish the regular season undefeated are:

- Nevada 9.3%; their toughest remaining OOC game is #42 AZ State; the next best team in the MWC is #56 Utah State
- Gonzaga 5.3%; they have 2 tough OOC games coming up: #12 Tennessee (nuetral) and #7 @UNC; the next best team in the WCC is #60 USF

Something is amiss with Miami. They are about to lose their 3rd straight as a big favorite. Penn is blowing out the Canes.

Yale beat them last weekend. Consecutive losses to the Ivies is a bad look.

Came here to post this and was hoping to get to post about Clemson losing to St. Peter’s but they pulled it out. Misery loves company.

Danny's coaching 'em up this week so we can get a big win over UNCC. :tard:

Got tickets to my annual Texas game tomorrow for the SHAKA DERBY.
