Americans dont pay any fucking attention to foreign policy unless Trump is involved. We never actually formally resolve to support Kurdish independence, we just use the Kurds as an excuse to keep a military presence near OPEC.
Not sure what you're talking about. Do you disagree that we need an actual plan to pull out?

Again, its nice to see that our 2 resident DSA members are so concerned about the suffering of poor and marginalized communities outside of the US.

Fuck ISIS, fuck Syria, and Fuck Russia. They are all killing innocent people. And yes, we have some (if not a lot of) blame for that. But walking away ain't going to help the folks getting slaughtered.

But good on you for being able to show how enlightened you are. The two of you and Whataboutamount can all go jerk each other off and talk about about hypocrisy of liberals while people die.

Sometimes you can pull out and end up making a bigger mess.
See Iraq & ISIS for example. Those who do not learn from history are destined to repeat it.

We absolutely need a plan to pull out, but no one capable of making those plans actually wants to pull out, so I prefer this to the likely alternative, which is an unending "intervention". This is just another facet of congressional Democrats disengenious demands for compromise before action as a way of forestalling action.

Oh horse shit. The Syrian resistance to Assad ended years ago, when it was taken over by Al Qeada. There are plenty of sources for you to learn about that. Syrian citizens always preferred the Assad regime over anarchaic Wahhabist tribal control, which was literally the only alternative outcome.

    US imperialism fucking wrecks everything.
Someone questions and criticizes US imperialism.
Sig, as a mouthpiece for the military industrial complex - "you don't care about poor and marginalized communities."

    Makes total sense.

Good effort. Completely wrong, but good effort. Its almost like an all or nothing view of the world is too simplistic for how things actually work.

It’s easy to be a mouthpiece for infinite intervention when you’re above the age of conscription.

For the record, I don’t think that pulling out the way that we did is particularly smart. Neither are our wars without end that are started and sustained by democrats and republicans alike.

See, I don’t have to have all the answers. I can just decide that unending interventionist wars in the Middle East go against my political compass. That goes for Bush 1, Bush 2, Obama, and Trump’s wars. Since needless wars are not my bag, I try to vote for politicians that are anti-war.

See, it ain’t hard to have politics beyond #nevertrump, y’all.
We're going to be good again.

How things actually work is that America shouldnt be involved in middle eastern civil wars, and we definitely shouldnt be taking sides of sectarian conflicts, arming and training "rebels", to then fight those same American trained rebels in a future conflict. It's a goddamn waste of American lives.

The Generals and advisors that Democrats are saying Trump should be listening to are the ones who have been calling for Obama and Trump to escalate our presence in Syria to begin with. Exactly what military outcome or success in the last 25 years are we, as american civilians, supposed to look to and base our trust upon? Its fucking quagmire after quagmire, and all we have to show for it are shitty war movies. Should you ask the bartenders advice before you stop drinking?

I’m confused about your point? Millions of “brown people” - if not tens of millions - are killed over the course of our various foreign interventions.

Do you think drone strikes are bloodless? What about creating the Taliban or propping up Sadam?

Or do we only care about the “brown lives” who we can “save” through further military intervention?

It's funny that Sig thinks I don't care about brown lives, when rather caring about brown and black lives has been the predominant reason I'm now a socialist. And I don't claim any enlightenment. My argument was not "pulling out of syria is good." My argument was that democrat's counter argument to Trump's actions should not be to further propagandize and legitimize our very fucked up military industrial complex. Meanwhile, that is very much what the establishment is doing. Tim Kaine is praising Mad Dog Jim on NPR and Nancy Pelosi is outraged.

Nothing about our past 17 years of military intervention can be construed to any pretense that the political elite and american capital care about brown lives.

This is some serious horseshoe shit. But I appreciate the DSA contingent admission that they care about brown people as long as they are already in the US. Fuck errrrbody else.
