2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

Bern's done. He won't accept it until next summer, but he's done.

I agree. Bernie had his chance in 2016. The circumstances that led to his close brush with the nomination do not exist in the 2020 cycle. If it was just Bernie vs. Biden, maybe he could make a similar run. But with the wide field and the increasing leftward tilt of the mainstream Democratic ideology, Bernie’s corner is shrinking and he doesn’t have a ton of growth potential.

Bernie's time has come and gone. Each month his numbers are slipping vs. Warren's being increasing.

If he made it to the general, the only word we'd ever hear from the RNC and Trump is "socialist". I understand this is nuanced, but tens of millions of Americans wouldn't get it.

Add to that Bernie's temperment. He gets angry too easily and Trump will be going after him every day.

Barring a recession, I don't see Bernie winning. The #1 -#1000 most important point is to beat Trump. Nothing else matters.

I’m not even a Bernie fan but I can spot lousy arguments. Your second paragraph will apply to any Dem candidate. Your third paragraph is simply making things up - his temperament? What the hell? What are you expecting will happen, that he’ll get so riled up that Trump will get under his skin? That is made up out of nowhere.

Just say you don’t think he’ll win because he looks like an old man.

And seriously, Trump has the temperament and wit of an elementary school bully. I don’t think temperament compared to that fat shit needs to be high on the list of concerns for the Dem candidate.

Can’t tell if you seriously don’t get his argument. Bernie would have been a unique candidate in any other Dem primary but this one.

as his message gets more popular he gets less popular?

I believe what ADT is trying to say is that others stake out ideologically similar grounds, Bernie's unique positioning from 2016 is not as unique

and he'll be 83 years old by the end of his first term, so maybe it's a good idea to look for a somewhat younger caretaker of a similar ideology (well, ADT didn't say that part)

What a load of crap! To not differentiate between someone who calls himself a "Democratic Socialist" and just a Democrat is to be lazy and transparent.

As to "simply making things up", Bernie's hyper nature has been evident for years. Secondly, Trump will be going after him or other candidates every day and in vile ways. Bernie gets easily upset. There are plenty of tapes of this happening. Your attack is total BS and disputes events that have happened.

Townie is just being dense. If I like chocolate ice cream and the only options are vanilla and chocolate, I'll choose chocolate. If I like chocolate ice cream and there's 20 flavors and most of them are versions of chocolate, I'm less likely to get plain chocolate than I was before.

I think the GOP will label any of the candidates socialist because they’re morons and that’s what they do. So that is not unique to Bernie.

Your opinion on the temperament is not a fact. It is a guess. A bad one IMO. Trump attacks are very stupid and clumsy. Just because Bernie gets riled up and passionate about policies he cares about does not mean definitively that he’ll lose his mind some idiotic nickname like “Bonehead Bernie”. Like I mentioned, Trump is a stupid child and behaves like one. Anyone will look like a composed adult next to that fat shit.

This is already happening.

I like Chocolate Mousse Royale. Which candidate is that?

I find it interesting that millennials like strick and townie, people who (correctly) revile boomers, are so in the tank for Bernie.

He’s fucking old. He doesn’t have to be President to help shape policy. So find somebody who is not likely to turn into sailor in the next year or so to support.

If more mainstream Dem politicians are considered very liberal, it dilutes the field. A progressive voter who in 2016 only had Bernie to vote for in the face of the moderates Clinton now has several candidates to vote for in the primary. Bernie does not monopolize the progressive wing of Democratic politics any longer, ergo his corner is shrinking.

I prefer my chocolate ice cream with a hint of mass incarceration and McKinsey sprinkles.

Well, he's not a boomer.

Bernie was born in 1941. The loathsome characteristics you find so repulsive are only found in those born between 1945 and 1964. In fact I know a guy who was born in January of 1965 and he’s a completely different person than my older friends.

Bernie would be fine as pres.
