2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

New criminal justice reform proposal from Bernie https://www.politico.com/story/2019/08/18/bernie-sanders-criminal-justice-overhaul-proposal-1466995

safe injection sites
legalize marijuana federally
prisoner bill of rights
end cash bail
end solitary confinement
abolish death penalty
end civil asset forfeiture

Folks, it's good.

RE: Ending cash bail - what do you do about rapists? Murderers? Espionage? Violent criminals?

RE: Ending solitary: I agree with generally but there needs to be exceptions. What if you have a criminal who is violent towards multiple cellmates?

Why should a rich alleged violent criminal be able to get out but a poor person who is suspected of the same crime stays locked up?

I don't think certain criminals should get out on bail at all.

So, you think Dylan Roof or the El Paso shooter or an armed bank robber who is caught in the act should be freed pending their trial?

He actually thinks the people should not only not be in jail, but shouldn't be sent to prison if convicted.

He also thinks we shouldn't have police, so it's not like anyone's getting arrested anyway.

Some of these sound good to this conservative:

safe injection sites - yes
legalize marijuana federally - yes
prisoner bill of rights - maybe, depending on what rights we are talking about
end cash bail - yes
end solitary confinement - yes
abolish death penalty - no
end civil asset forfeiture - not sure

Legitimate question: why are you against the abolition of the death penalty?

The only right they need: A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed

Wrong. When you equalize income privileges will flow from proximity to power and influence. See history of USSR, PRC and others, you socialist ignoramus.

Weird how that happens in extreme income inequality.

Seems to me like you shouldn't object to ending cash bail then? If your argument is that certain people are too dangerous to release before their trial, and then why should how much money they have come in to play at all? Either they are too much of a danger to the public and should remain in jail, or they aren't and they should be released, right?

There was never "equalized income privileges" in the USSR. If you knew anything about the USSR, you'd know there were many tiers of income and wide range privileges in the Soviet Union. It wasn't unusual for babushkas to wait in line in the freezing cold to get bread and cheese while plant managers and party officials were eating caviar and drinking champagne in their dachas.
