2020 Democratic Presidential Nominees

Quite possibly I am the only one to vote third party in a contested election. I was 22 with a Earth First bumper sticker, but what I am trying to say here is that I learned my lesson. I have wisdom from experience.

So, why are you lecturing us like we don’t also know this wisdom?

Who is lecturing? I am pleading with people to tone it down and not be so negative about other people in our own big tent party.
Would have been great if people would have followed that advice four years ago. We might not be in this situation

Warren is at Clark right at this moment. It's going better than Deval's event.

You're pleading to the choir. With the exception of principled conservatives (or however they're justifying Trump to themselves), everybody on here voted for Clinton and is committed to voting for Democrats in 2020.

There's nothing wrong with debate, man, but to each their own.

Pressley going all in for Warren right now.

I’m not suggesting you shouldn’t debate the merits of Pete’s tax plan vs Warren or what ever. I’m suggesting, for the good of the Party and, at this juncture in space and time, the good of the country and the planet, Democrats should refrain from calling their less preferred candidates in the primaries “odious” and “Republicans”. That is toxic discourse that will dampen enthusiasm for a bunch of already uninspiring candidates.

Stop accusing me of suppressing democracy or stifling debate. You’ll have a much more productive debate if you refrain from incendiary rhetoric. If anything, calling your opponents odious is more stifling of productive debate than asking for decorum.

Ok, those last two sentences were a bit lecture-y.

I don’t really understand your point, but I promise I won’t use the words “odious” or Republican as adjectives anymore. I think that’s what I did wrong? Weird day on this thread.

What’s not to understand? Critique policy. Don’t slander Dems. If people keep putting Pete in the same group with Nunes and Jordan, that’s going to peel off voters who would rather have four years of Trump than risk eight years of an “odious” Republican. Stop poisoning the well.

With Pete taking the lead in Iowa and possibly NH and Biden having SC mostly locked up, we could be more realistically looking at a brokered convention. If neither Bernie nor Warren win any of the first three, the entire race could get wild.

It could get completely insane if Harris wins CA and does well in NV. Shortly after Super Tuesday, everything could be thrown into madness.

Klobuchar and Buttigieg are running as Republicans in a field of Democrats. Neither will be the nominee but they’re doing so to boost their own brands, as fiscally conservative Democrats, instead of in the service of

Biden, Sanders, Booker, Yang, Harris, and Warren somehow manage to run positive, ideas-based campaigns. Gabbard is running a purely negative campaign against Biden and Warren while Klobuchar and Buttigieg are one trick, “how can we pay for this” ponies. The fact that the rest of the field has largely ignored their attacks speaks to the field more than it does the candidacies of the three I listed above.

Running divisive campaigns in the run up to Trump is pretty odious, imo.

Cory Booker, a centrist in this group, clearly won the debate (imo) before y’all get your “you’re a Bernie Bro” circle jerk going.

You seem to be wildly out of touch with what is Republican today.

It’s not about attempts at fiscal responsibility or even political prudence. “Republican” today is basically batshit crazy and pathologically dishonest.

You didn’t say ‘they hold some conservative ideologies’ you said they were running as republicans. We can’t lose sight of how far gone down the road to crazy town the entire Republican Party is.

What happened to me is [the catastrophic, illogical, dishonorable and utterly dishonest response of Republicans to Obama’s election, paving the way to the ascendency of
Trump...

Can we stop saying Bernie Bro. Stop saying odious. Stop saying Dems are Republicans.Stop calling every progressive a socialist. Stop acting like any centrist Dem nominee is deplorable (short of Tulsi who might be related to Putin). If you dislike their message explain why, hopefully with more than 5 words.

If a message board of an "educated" university can't handle those simple ideas, this country is done anyway and doesn't deserve to be a leading nation. If we can't convince a strong majority that things are fucked...we're missing the point.

I suggest we change the thread title to "On Going Dem Debacle."

This party needs to focus a lot more on commonality and unity than figuring out what's wrong with each and every person in the tent.

GTFO with that “Republican” BS.
