Official Bowl Game Thread

You do realize that outside of a couple of Independence Bowl appearances that were in easy driving distance, the Belk Bowl is the least prestigious bowl Texas A&M has ever been to, right ? It's also the farthest away bowl they've ever gone to except the Aloha Bowl. This bowl was a punishment for A&M.

A&M signed up for that possibility when they joined the SEC. All the SEC bowl tie ins are in the southeast.

Seriously. Join the SEC and you'll have to play in bowls geared toward SC, UGA, TN, Vandy, UK, and UF fans.

Texas A&M was 7-5 last season, 4th in their division, so how was the Belk bowl a "punishment"? What SEC tie in bowl, closer to Texas, was A&M denied?

A&M played in the Texas Bowl in 2016, so they weren't eligible for it in 2017. So A&M could have played in:

Liberty Bowl in Memphis (547 mi)
"the SEC did not have enough teams to fill its contractual obligations, so the bowl invited the Memphis Tigers of the American Athletic Conference"

Independence Bowl in Shreveport (230 mi)
-lower ranked bowl tie in than Belk
Music City Bowl in Nashville (759 mi)
-chose Kentucky over A&M probably for proximity
Belk Bowl in Charlotte (1067 mi)

Board is a better place when sad bitter beatdown Manlet Deac exiles himself after another, as expected, choke job loss.

Any scuttlebutt about where the bowl HQ might be? Wake's site still doesn't have such info -- which would help in getting a hotel.
