Possible Wake Forest Coaching Candidates Analysis

Miller has never beaten a ranked team. It's one thing to not do it in a year or two or three, but he's had eight.

Took a quick look over the last few years... (these are KenPom rankings btw)

2018:
Lost to #2 UVA by 12 first game of the season
Lost to #10 Gonzaga by 4 in the NCAAT

2017:
Lost to #12 UVA by 25 in first game of the season
Lost to #36 WAKE FOREST (holla atcha boy) by 3

2016:
Lost to #2 UNC by 33

2015:
Lost to #10 UNC by 23

2014:
No ranked opponents

2013:
No ranked opponents

So you could blame him for not scheduling tougher games, but tough to get too upset that he goes 0-1 or 0-2 each year against his single ranked opponent

They played very well against Kentucky at their place and it only got run up in the last 3 minutes or so of the game. Our teams over the last 10 years would get blown out by half time.

I’m tired of moral victories, buckets.

We should be able to do better than Wes Miller.

At a neutral site our teams over the last ten ten years would be:

09-10: -3.5
10-11: -19.5
11-12: -16.2
12-13: -10.8
13-14: -10.0
14-15: -10.1
15-16: -10.1
16-17: -2.1
17-18: -7.9
18-19: -12

Not talking about a neutral site. Talking about playing at Kentucky

How did you come up with those numbers? This season we are 2-1 in neutral site games for a net of -2.3 ppg. We lost to St. Joe's by 20, beat Fullerton by 7 and Valpo by 6.

How on Earth does that equal -12/game?

Forgive me for not betting the house on what Kenpom thinks the outcome of a Wake game would be.

For where the program is today, I would prefer someone like Matta. I'm excited for the potential the young guys like Miller and Grant show, but this mess needs someone who I believe can restock the cupboard with talent in just a season or two. Then after a few years and a lot of the mess is cleaned up, hand it over to the long-term coach. I have a feeling hiring one of the young up-and-comers now is setting them up for failure.

I woudnt watch Wake basketball with a new coach. College basketball as a product sucks. My viewership used to be on par with football. With the current crap product, I would ten times rather watch a college football game. Two tierd system, low scoring, focus on overpaid coaches instead of players, bad offense disguised as defense. It's just awful. Thought I'd never say this. Rather watch a soccer match.
