Jeffrey Epstein

I think what he principally failed to explain was why not bring a federal indictment to increase your leverage?

ETA: I guess he did. Basically he said that he didn't think the evidence was strong enough.

In other news, both Trump’s Kentucky and Oklahoma campaign chairs are in jail for child’s sex trafficking.

Someone was reading part of an affidavit from a victim that Epstein would take naked and other sexual pictures of the underage girls. Some were shown in the FL home others on his computer. According to a for federal prosecutor, this would be a black letter case of production of child pornography with each image carrying a mandatory fifteen sentence.

How could Acosta let that go?

The lack of an apology was bad optics. It could have been handled in a number of ways, but of course, we know why he didn’t apologize.

If they had the pictures, why didn't he get charged with producing kiddie porn? That's a slam dunk conviction.

There's a lot that smells and more he didn't discuss at all.

Remember, the Secretary of Labor who's currently under fire for cutting a deal with an alleged pedophile and serial rapist is only the Secretary of Labor because Trump's *original* nominee for Secretary of Labor had to withdraw over allegations that he had abused his ex-wife.

Also, remember that the 2016 RNC Finance Chairman who's been accused of multiple counts of rape is different from the 2016 RNC Deputy Finance Chairman who paid for a Playmate's abortion and different from the *other* 2016 RNC Deputy Finance Chairman who is now in prison.

2 of the 9 Supreme Court Justices, the Lt. Governor of Virginia, and the President of the United States have all been credibly accused of serious sexual misconduct, up to and including forcible rape.

(Stolen from Twitter)

Only one that matters is that Lt Gov from VA, proving that Democrats are hypocrites and support abusers and racists

Who honestly gives a fuck about optics when we’re talking about child rape.

That’s literally what’s wrong with the United States.

I was talking about how a politician was handling the messaging of a screw-up, but yes, that is a fair point.

Acosta did not say that he had insufficient evidence or that witnesses were not willing to testify. There were apparently 130 some-odd Does referenced in the state court file as well. Ultimately, would Acosta have made the same decision under identical facts but the guy was just your random Palm Beach millionaire? No.

Prosecutors have to make difficult plea decisions every day. This deal arose because Epstein's lawyer had worked out a state plea deal but were smart enough to know that he still had federal exposure. Is there any actual evidence that Acosta was motivated by a desire to protect Epstein, Trump, someone else? What were the motives of the state prosecutor? Obviously, in retrospect, justice was not done here, but the state prosecutor was obviously in favor of the plea or it would not have happened. Where is that person now?

I heard earlier this morning, which I haven’t verified, that Stephen Hawking was a visitor to Epstein’s island. Is that legit?

Is that the defense from the right now? “The true geniuses like Stephen Hawking and Donald Trump associated with Epstein!”

Someone gave a brief statement from the office disputing Acosta, basically stating that the feds had a 53 page indictment ready to go if they felt the state case was so badly handled.

Acosta did get a job at the law firm that represented Epstein after giving him this deal. Doesn't that smell?
