Swag.

Jared Birmingham Bowl (Memphis vs. Wake Forest)
Gift suite; Oakley backpack or sunglasses; cooling hoodie; football

Giving football players a football seems particularly lame.

It probably says "Birmingham Bowl" on it though !

Oakleys are the sunglasses of choice for certain head college football coaches though.

This is a classic picture.
I've laughed at it for years.......every time I see it.

Don't laugh. He led the Pack to their greatest season ever. Finished 4th in the ACC and won the Gator Bowl. He was feted with a parade through Raleigh.

Ok, laugh.

I bought two tickets and donated them to the University. Hopefully some of you students can take them and go for free! :)

I know fan support matters when bowls are picking teams. And I'm unfortunately on call and can't get down there. So hopefully someone can enjoy on me. Raise a glass in my honor :) haha

Some fun bowl stats courtesy of Phil Steele:

- WF is 7-2 in bowls
- WF is 7-1-1 ATS in bowls
- Memphis has lost their last 3 bowl games (they lost to Iowa State 21-20 in last year's Liberty Bowl)
- Memphis lost to Auburn (31-10) in the 2015 Birmingham/Iron Bowl.
- Memphis has a big time rushing attack averaging 6.6 YPC as a team
- Their stud rusher, Darrell Henderson, ran for almost 2000 yards and averages a ridiculous 8.9 per carry
- Memphis' QB Brady White (grad transfer from AZ State) completes 63% of his passes and has 25/8 ratio
- Memphis did not face many stellar defenses; Tulane held Memphis to a season low 277 yards.
- WF's rush D sucked for most of the year, but really improved over the last 3 games (109 yards per game 2.9 YPC)
- WF played a much tougher schedule (#45 for WF; #108 for Memphis)
- Memphis played one Power V opponent losing to Mizzou 65-33
- Tulane is the one common opponent; WF beat Tulane 23-17; Memphis lost to the Green Wave 40-24
- Applying the 75 point over/under and the 5 point spread, Vegas projects a 40-35 Memphis win.

I assume this is post 1979 Tangerine Bowl? I think we are 8-4 all time.

Yes, to clarify:

- WF is 7-2 in its last 9 bowls
- WF is 7-1-1 ATS in its last 9 bowls

Essentially, the Dooley, Caldwell, Grobe and Clawson eras.

The "gift suite" is the most important part of pretty much all bowl swag. Basically a room where they get $XXX to "spend" and pick different cool items. Total value of gifts can't exceed $550. I'm sure there's some cool stuff in there (electronics/video game stuff for sure).

Memphis RB Darrell Henderson, Jr. will skip the Birmingham Bowl to prepare for the NFL draft because he hates his teammates and is ungrateful to the University of Memphis and is a quitter.
