Republicans Shut Down the Federal Government Again & Suffer Humiliating Defeat

Watched a couple of the Sunday morning news programs just to see what their roundtables would say regarding all of the events this week. ABC's This Week roundtable actually had a good, productive and serious discussion (Chris Christie wasn't there for once).

NBC's Meet the Press was completely different. Danielle Pletka was the resident right-winger. Chuck Todd seemed obsessed with the notion that a deal may be imminent to reopen the government, that some Senate Democrats might be "breaking", and kept pushing that point. When Joshua Johnson, an NPR host and the roundtable liberal, said that a deal over Trump's compromise proposal yesterday was unlikely, as the wall had become a symbolic moral issue, and that many of those supporting the wall were doing so for racial reasons (which is true), Pletka, as usual, took the opportunity to condescendingly lecture him (as if he were about five years old) that not everyone opposed to the wall was doing so for racial reasons, and saying that support for the wall is based on racism "just angers and stirs up the other side". Pletka then proceeded to praise Trump for taking the first step towards compromise, and basically said that even if the Democrats don't like Trump and don't really agree with most of the proposal, they should still accept it and end the shutdown, because at least Trump was willing to compromise, and the Democrats aren't.

As usual, neither Todd nor anyone else on the roundtable challenged her. When Todd asked everyone which side would crack first, Pletka promptly jumped in and said it would be the Democrats, and again, no one challenged her. There was also no mention of the fact that every single poll shows Trump & the Republicans being blamed for the shutdown. Todd added that "you take the emotion out of this debate, and it's solved tomorrow", which is very simplistic and not accurate, I think. His final question was about the Buzzfeed story, and he criticized the news media as much as Pletka - she said the story is obviously "fake news." When two panelists pointed out that Buzzfeed is standing by the story and stated that they've double-checked their sources, and that Mueller's office didn't clarify what part of their story was inaccurate, Todd ignored them and agreed with Pletka. He's become the ultimate bosider, and he just lets right-wingers like Pletka dominate the roundtable debates. At least the ABC This Week discussion was productive.

If the Dems has agreed to that deal, Trump would have reneged after the amnesty talk.

Barron’s reports that the cost of the partial government shutdown has now exceeded the $5.7 billion President Trump requested for his wall. That is how stupid Democrats’ “resistance” has become.

Two years ago, Donald J. Trump was inaugurated as the 45th president of the United States. Almost immediately thereafter, Democrats fastened on obstructing every single proposal from Mr. Trump as their party’s primary platform. Who could have imagined that two years in, hatred of the president would still be rolling across the country like a wrecking ball, undermining the integrity of the FBI and credibility of our courts, corroding our politics, and utterly destroying the fair-mindedness of the press?

Worse, he has accomplished a great deal that should please all Americans, following through on promises to revive our manufacturing industries, make the U.S. more competitive, enact criminal justice reform, improve accountability at the Veterans Administration, boost consumer and business optimism, confront the Chinese over trade malpractice and other misdeeds, bring North Korea to the bargaining table, prod NATO to pay its fair share, rid the country of suffocating red tape, defeat ISIS and put people back to work.

That makes liberals very, very angry.

Can’t wait for Trump to hold a press conference dressed as Awesome-O.

“Barron’s reports that the Smiths and the local police have spent more trying to find little Sally than the kidnappers have asked for.”

This is the funniest shit you have posted yet.

Indeed. Trump hasn't revived our manufacturing base or made the US more competitive (ask our farmers dealing with his trade war if they're more competitive), his trade wars are killing certain parts of our economy, the stock market has plummeted and polls show consumer and business confidence is declining, not rising, his handling of North Korea (and most of our foreign policy) is a joke when not a disaster, and on and on. Fox has developed a real knack for claiming things for Trump that are almost the exact opposite of what he's actually done, or is doing.

If you say it enough it becomes true

yes, even the globalist Macron

French authorities have built a ten-foot wall at a Total station in Calais used by migrants who attempt to storm lorries and break into Britain.
The barrier is being erected at a petrol station in the Marcel-Doret area where lorries stop to fill up with fuel before heading to the port and onwards to the United Kingdom. It is set to be finished by mid-February.

Local prefect Fabien Sudry told Nord Littoral that “smuggling networks meet there and take advantage of stations near the port to get migrants in trucks.”
