'19 Special & '20 Congressional Election Thread

According to CNN figures, Beshear leads by about 6,000 with all counties and all but a handful of precincts reported.

If Beshear holds on to win, he can thank in part his margin in Jefferson County (Louisville). He carried that county by nearly 100,000 votes, or 67% of the vote. Trump may be popular in rural areas and small towns, but he's clearly just as hated in nearly all larger urban areas.

Cue the "90% of the land voted for Bevin" takes. Maybe the outgoing R's will try to set up a electoral college for KY state elections.

From what I've read Bevin really pissed off a lot of people in Kentucky, especially public school teachers, who had it out for him. I'm wondering if Bevin's reduced margin in some rural counties came partly from that. It certainly helped Cooper and hurt McCrory in NC in 2016.

Beshear’s Lt Gov is a high school assistant principal and former girls basketball coach as well.

Don’t fuck with teachers.

Yes this is the next step. The Kentucky State Legislature will just strip away all powers currently held by the Governor.

Dems have flipped 3 seats in VA House of Delegates. Need a +2 to take the majority.

19 races left to call.

Beshear leads by about 5,400 votes, CNN still has 99% of precincts reporting. MSNBC has already declared him the winner, but most other networks have not made a call yet.

If Bevin had won, Trump would already have been tweeting all over taking credit for the victory. It will be interesting to see what he does now.

Will it? Trump throws people under the bus better than anyone.

The turnout is nuts. Over 50% more people voted in KY than four years ago.

If Dems win both houses in VA, they should give the GOP a little taste of their own medicine in 2021 and redraw Republicans out of as many seats as they can.

The Kentucky Secretary of State just announced on CNN that Beshear will be the next Governor of Kentucky. She said that Bevin could ask for a recount if the margin is under 10,000 votes, but that she "is confident" based on the results she is seeing that Beshear's lead will hold.
