Diamond Deacs 2019 (Offseason) | 5 Deacs Drafted

Coming back from 7-0 and winning is a great confidence booster for the kids. Go Diamond Deacs!

Still got a chance. Nice job by the pitching after the first couple disaster innings.

Great win today for the Deacs. McSweeney’s control problems are getting old and Walter has a very short rope with him. I’m shocked that the bullpen has been the strength of the staff. Turconi has earned the starting job in my opinion. Mueller’s bat has been relatively silent since that great season 2 years ago. He has been given every chance but Turconi has been better.

Lol fuck State. Fuck those guys.

Great series win and it gives us a small window to make a run at making the tourney. Need a damn near perfect finish. What’s typically the magic win number to get in?

Is anyone NOT enjoying our absolute ownership of NC State across sports this year?

our magic number is probably 35 wins - to get there, WF would need to go 11-3 to close out the regular season and 1-1 at the ACC tournament

WF has two ACC road series (at FSU and Clemson), one home ACC series (Miami) and 5 non-con games against poor competition (3 of which are on the road)

given that schedule, 11-3 would be an amazing run

According to D1 Baseball Rankings, WF is currently #72: https://d1baseball.com/nitty-gritty/ Deacs needs to jump about 25 to 30 teams over the rest of the season to get in the NCAAs.

I'm a little baffled as to why we didn't move up really any after taking the series vs State. I think we moved up 10 spots after beating Liberty to 83, but only moved up 8 spots after beating State game 1. Then moved up just 3 after the split on Saturday. Just seems odd. State's RPI went mainly unaffected by the outcome of the series. I guess I thought we'd see a bigger jump given that State had an RPI in the low 20s. This team still has a shot with opportunities against solid ACC competition coming up, so you never know, but it isn't looking promising.

Wow those teams are bunched. We're only 2 games out of 2nd. If we finish solidly in the top 5 of the ACC and win the rest of the mid-week games, I feel like we'll get a nod.

The weekend fact that most surprised me was the Clemson 7 game losing streak and was swept by Duke. I did see where Duke got some stud player back and maybe that is a big factor for their 5 game win streak. We took series 2-1 vs Duke earlier. Hope things work out for us.

Pretty much a must-win today against a terrible UNCC team. We've been better at midweek games lately, so hopefully we won't blow it. Witt has been getting these starts, but wouldn't be surprised to see Muntz who is pretty well-rested.

Witt got the start, has yielded one hit (promptly erased via 4-6-3 dp) through 3

Deacs up 7-0

10-0. This one got out of hand fast. Just wish we had put more performances like this one together for the midweek games earlier in the season.

Top 50 likely gets us close given “last teams in” at this point as well as the fact that to get that we will be coming in hot.

Peaking at a good time.

If we go 5-4 in conference to finish including 2 wins against Miami then we should be looking pretty good. Especially being that Miami has such a strong RPI currently. Obviously we can't have but maybe 1 midweek slip-up. I'm thinking 16-14 in the ACC and an overall record of 33-22 should get us in and have us around an RPI of 40 would be just enough.
