Is it time for the MODS to create Danny[redacted]?

I feel like Danny's just in over his head. And at least he's trying in recruiting getting us in the mix for some highly regarded dudes. And he inherited redacted's mess.

Meanwhile ol' redac inherited a strong program and run it in to the ground, acting like an excuse-making asshat the entire time. That's unforgiveable, and worthy of his distinction on this board
This. Buzz is in a class of his own and deserves his own distinctions. [Redacted] is a horrible person, Danny is a bad basketball coach.

Bullshit, one of the greatest college players of all time. No way, he just didn’t make it here. It’s not the fucking same.

You're right. It's not the same. He's not a player anymore. He's a coach...a really, really, really, really awful coach who is on the verge of leaving the program in worse shape than when he took it over.

When DM took over, we had 5 years of irrelevancy. Now we have had 10. No recruits remember Wake being relevant in hoops. The program is in worse shape than when DM took over.

[Redacted] took over a very good program and trashed it. Manning took over a trash program and couldn’t turn it around. There is a massive difference between the two.

It was over when Nestor was added to the staff. Its helped (#packpride) but it's not nearly enough to overcome Danny's... instincts... #dotheopposite

He took over a program that had a blip. One bad hire. Like Doherty at UNC. Nothing unfixable.

He cemented the bad. 10 years is a long time and now Wake has the reputation of a loser. Manning has done just as much damage to the program.
Potential recruits cannot remember a time when Wake was even average.

Danny took a hiccup and made it a trend.

Wellman is just such a bad judge of character and has no idea when to cut his losses.

Does anyone really believe the years after Dino would have gone much differently if we had swapped Manning for [Redacted]? Maybe a few less losses here and there, but would the program have been in better shape through 4 years than where [Redacted] left it? I don't see much that points in that direction.

Wellman simply sucks at all things basketball. He's overseen the destruction of the men's team that he inherited on solid ground, and the women's team hasn't made the NCAA's, has only had one 20 win season and one season of .500 in conference while he's been AD. His only obviously good decision in basketball over his long career has been to hire Skip. Everything else appears to have been a failure.

Meh. He identified John Beilein prior to him becoming a household name in college hoops and Beilein was coming to Wake if Skip took the Pitt job.

It wasn't a secret that Wellman and GDO never got along well but the decision to part ways in 2001 was good timing. And to be fair, his hands were tied to an extent on the Dino firing.

But hiring Bz was inexcusable and a panic hire when others higher on the list said no. And this set the table for the Manning hire when the Top 3 to 4 on the list also said no.

Who tied his hands? We had a whole thread about the innuendos. You missed that?

Or:
Danny the Dimwit
Danny the Dull
Danny Low IQ
Danny I got money who cares if we lose

A very good program that had the AT&T class disaster, the Stewart class disaster, and had lined up the JT-Tabb-Chennault-Desrosiers class disaster. Real solid ground there.

I might prefer [ill-fitting suit] to [empty suit], but hey, whatever works.
