Wake guard Brandon Childress confident Deacs will be great

Everyone, from local to the national press, has treated Manning with kid gloves. No one wants to embarrass a legend.

I've noticed this too and I wonder how much is due to him being a legend and how much to him being African American. The big media narrative is their isn't enough diversity in head coaching jobs. I'm all for wanting diversity but that should come when they've worked their way up. Manning did not

What was the "weirdest halftime show ever witnessed" that Country Dan references for those of us not at the game on Saturday?

What should he have said there? He can't say we are going to make changes in order to get better because his coach is committed to staying the course. Really all he can say is we are going to keep doing what we have been doing and hope it works, because that's all their getting for the coaching staff.

I would hope he'd have some insight into what the team is doing to fix the problems. I had hoped that despite Manning's answers and cluelessness, maybe someone on the staff was getting through to the players with some specifics of things to work on. Rchill? Nestor?

It is not like he is going to say we suck and are going to continue to suck. Of all the shit that surrounds this dumpster fire, BChill is not part of the problem. The dude goes out twice a week and gives his everything out on the court and bust his ass for a game that can't be any fun right now. Can't hate the kid because Danny is trash.

You're reading things into my post at this point. Never called BChill the problem. Just interesting to see the symptoms of the problem...i.e. the team leader and veteran who still believes that we're a great team with just a little more work.

The point is that we don't know if Brandon "believes" or not. He may just be towing the.company line. many of us disagree that its weird. He may very well have his own thoughts on manning as a coach. There is no way they are not confused by things like Danny's substitution patterns.

Plenty of minority coaches aren’t treated with kid gloves.

The real answer is that the national media doesn’t really care about Wake basketball. [Redacted] didn’t get a whole lot of national heat other from coverage of the local heat from billboards and such. Making the First Four probably cooled the heat on Manning from people who aren’t paying attention.

Racer being a little extreme here. There's no response Childress could have given that would have shielded him/the program from criticism.

If Childress responded optimistically, like he did, the response is "look how dilusional he is" or "they don't have any specifics to work on, either"

If Childress responds with specific improvement areas, the response is "look how awful Manning is! Even the players know what needs to be improved! Why can't the coach communicate that!"

If Childress responds by saying "we suck", the response is "look at how Manning can't control his locker room, he can't even get his team captain on board"

"Country Dan" ... C'mon, man.

I don't know where to start with the halftime show. It was like a cross between the jump-rope kids and a gymnastics meet, with strange music and no established flow.

OK I see where your coming from.

What is one of the crazier things to me is that Wellman asked Danny what he did to turn around his Tulsa team midseason, and Danny said he did nothing. Wellman hearing this and then thinking ok this is my guy blows my mind.

Seems fitting for our basketball team.

Uhh, it's not derogatory. Do a quick Google search and you'll see that moniker used when he hosts open mic nights and for his ReverbNation website.

His peers refer to him as Country Dan. Hell, Dan refers to himself in 3rd person as Country Dan in the DeCock article:

Here is some video of that interview:

This is really endearing. I like Brandon a lot and I feel bad for him.

I believe Conor's point is that Country Dan did not write the article

I know it's not derogatory. I call him that, too.

Was simply a remark that it was something I wrote, not Country.

speaking of Dan
considering his last blog stated "Does rock bottom have a trap door? We’re getting ready to find out with Saturday’s visit from Boston College." - i can't wait for his new one

You are redeeming your self from that bizarre [Redacted] retirement article last summer with pieces like this... especially with this little nugget:
This has been your weekly dose of #BzdelikLogik

Hah, doing the best I can do. Hopefully you've been able to enjoy my Bz or Danny quote game on Twitter.

By enjoy, of course, I mean the theme of my Twitter account lately: We laugh, that we do not weep.

Sorry for derailing this thread a bit.
