No, he would really good as the SUV specialist at the local carwash.

I think Danny has a great future as a light bulb changer.

It would take him about an hour to change a bulb. It would take him about 30 min. to find the best and brightest bulbs . . . but most of those bulbs would leave before Danny could use them. Then he would contemplate changing the bulb for another 30 min. And after he had changed the bulb he would forget to turn on the electricity. All the while Ron would be telling us what a great bulb changer Danny was. And we would still be in the dark.

Manning should get fired right now. I'm hopeful he gets fired at the end of the season. I'm fearful he doesn't.

should absolutely keep director of player development. that guy is a stud.

it would be our luck that wellman coordinates danny stepping down and he promotes evan to head coach

Our sophomore class has definitely made the leap from their freshman seasons.

A big weakness for Chaundee was his ball handling and ability to create his own shot off the dribble. After watching this season I can tell that the director of player development has really been working on that with him.

Think you guys are taking "player development" a little too literally.

"Manning assists in various operations of the men's basketball program, including practice preparation, community service projects with student-athletes and coaches, scouting and camps."

The following post is trying to be completely objective:
I am certainly in the minority saying I was OK with giving Bz a 4th year. I think if you hire someone you at least need to give that person more than 3 years to be successful. After year 4 it was pretty clear Bz was not the answer. I don't fault Ronny for the hire since he had recently "struck gold" with the Grobe hire. It seems he was trying to do the same with Bz but with disastrous results. So giving Manning 4 years was not unreasonable to me but this 5th year needs to be an overwhelming success story to maintain him as head coach. Even the Wake Forest golden child Randolph Childress is completely uninspiring. I assume a "Childress must stay" clause was in the Manning hiring contract, which I respect on Ronny's part, but after this season I think it's time to just clean house completely.
I think the above is probably closer to what most people think but I'm just trying to express my opinion while not jumping on the "Manning is the worst coach in the world" train.

I won't lie. I'm undecided. First of all, if you listen to many of the post game pressers or halftime interviews of coaches, many respected ones included, you hear much of the same ideas that we hear from Danny. The difference is though, that the Calipari's or the K's, or the Roy's, or the Bennett's or the Self's, et al clearly have a more effective way of producing the performances in the players, and a more appreciated message to the fanbases. I honestly believe Manning knows what he is talking about when it comes to college basketball. But it's becoming very clear that he's not very good at coaching that wisdom into his team. So the question I have about replacing him or keeping him is actually pretty simple. Will changing the coach really make any difference at Wake Forest? Buzz was obviously well regarded as a basketball mind otherwise he NEVER would've been as respected in the NBA, yet he was horrible as a college coach. Prosser definitely brought some cache to the program especially with some improved recruiting. But he never actually changed the inherent weaknesses of the Wake Forest basketball program. Odom, revered by many on this board, had some productive years finding diamonds like Duncan and Childress, but frankly never created a lasting impression of any consequence. Wake Forest is not EVER mentioned in the same breath with Syracuse, Georgetown, UNC, Duke, UVA, FSU, Texas, UK, Kansas,Mich St., Mich, Ohio St, Kansas, Oklahoma, UCLA, Arizona, and a host of other schools. Is a coaching change going to automatically change that scenario over a 4-5 year period. Not likely. There are only a handful of impactful coaches that have either legitimately established, or maintained, a culture of success in modern college basketball. Roy Williams, Bill Self, K, Gregg Marshall, Rick Barnes, Tom Izzo, John Calipari, Brad Stephens, Jim Boeheim, Jay Wright and John Beilien: maybe Shaka Smart. Of those, only Stephens, Gregg Marshall and Shaka could be considered non-blue bloods. It ain't gonna be as simple as you think.

Thats a loser mentality fusiondad, yes the right coach can get in here and turn things around. Plain and Simple.

Who's the right coach BigBoy? If it were plain and simple, it would've already been done based on the scorecard many on this board claim Wake has in it's favor. I'm a Wake Alum who's lived thru all the coaches going back to Carl Tacy. I always have hope. But the truth is, we're the same basketball program today we've been all those years, ups and downs. Changing Wake Forest basketball is not plain and simple in today's environment no matter who the coach is or the players are.

More like a quitters mentality. Was it over when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor?

That’s a really bad post for so many reasons, but I guess kudos for being brave enough to show how bad you can post?

Explain Virginia Tech before Buzz Williams arrived to me. When he arrived, they were in a worse situation than Wake has been at ANY time in the last decade.

What a terrible post.

^^^ VT is a very good example of when you aren't that good but find and sign the right coach.

Manning has been one of the worst coaches in ACC history but sure fusiondad keep wondering if a coaching change will make a difference. Loser Mentality.
