KP Report - FSU - WF in Tallahassee 7 pm Wednesday ACC Network

The worst thing is that we're going to have to see Bud post at least nine times that Manning will be retained if he wins the next game until he is fired at the end of the year.

In watching highlights, it appears we kept it relatively close until the last 10 minutes. What happened?

It’s easy to blame Manning for everything, which he deserves, but this team has a real talent deficit in the post and at point guard. We have no post presence on offense or defense, so when the opposing team slightly tightens their pressure, and the threes stop falling , we go on long scoring droughts. We can’t get the ball inside ( poor passing team) and we have no one down low to stop penetration and we get killed inside with easy baskets.

Who's in charge of getting and retaining talent on the roster?

We made some stiff from Africa look like Alonzo Moutning last night.

One of Manning's biggest deficiencies is that he isn't able (or doesn't really try) to construct an offense OR defense that fits the strengths and weaknesses of his roster. And/or that he isn't able to recruit players that fit his "system". It goes back to him always using a square block no matter the shape of the hole.

Two years ago we had arguably the best big man in college basketball along with pretty solid frontline depth, and we got killed inside with easy baskets.

Coach's son has to be enjoying that 40 mpg he gets.

Speaking of which, when Brandon missed the two technical free throws last night, Randolph was visibly (and understandably) upset. I could read his lips.

My first thought was, "Having this father/son dynamic just isn't healthy". Nepotism is rarely a good idea.

The crux of the issue for me is program building. Dave Clawson had a specific 3yr and 5yr plan for building out the program and he was going to stick with it no matter the wins or loses. Manning has never had more than a this month plan. He masks it in not caring about wins or loses. Even someone who can coach will eventually fail wi t out a vision or a plan.

Manning's greatest failing imo is not that he is a shitty coach but that he had and has no vision as to how to build out a program and sustain it. His only strategy seems to be "got length?"

Danny is just not that bright. You have to have some intelligence to have a vision. you are asking for the impossible

Yep. We had 4 free throws coming on that play, to make it a 1 point game, and missed 3 of them. That lost "MO' was the start of the flood. IMHO. We had played very well up until that point and seemed to run out of gas/spirit. The effort dipped.

Like the one who bolted.

So Manning has recruited one servicable point guard in five years (make it six). Is that what we're debating ? We should absolutely have a better pg than Childress.

Who on the roster should be starting at pg besides Childress? No one; and that's yet another indictment of our coaching staff.

Might as well pull for the kids to win guys, Manning will be back next year, shouldn't be, but WILL be. (barring some off the court issues which is not Manning's style). Wellman has done a terrific job over the past several years in most every sport, except the one we love, Basketball. Both the men and women are near the bottom every year, very little good has been done at the Joel, we have no excitement from our coach and we seem to be treading sand (or quick sand if you prefer) in player development. Because he has been such a good fund raiser and been good in all other sports, he will be here until he decides to retire, probably 2 years from now. Sucks but it is what it is.

nah, manning's gone

team bigboy
