WF plays at home tomorrow at noon against UNC-Chapel Hill. Here is the KP analysis of the Light Blue team in their lame Alexander Julian deigned togs:

Record: The Heels visit WF with a 19-5 (9-2) record #9 KP. They are fresh off a home loss to UVA. Not going to list them all, but UNC has an impressive 14 wins against top 100 teams. The best of which was a 13 point home win over #3 Gonzaga. UNC has played well on the road 7-1 (5-0 in the ACC; all by 8 or more).

Offense: Always a strength for NC - #2 in the ACC; #9 in the country. UNC can score. They cracked 100 5 times (including against Zaga, State and VT), and they play at the fastest tempo (73.5 possessions per game) of any ACC team in conference games. Unlike prior Heel teams, UNC's strength comes the outside. They are #2 in the ACC in 3 PT% in ACC games (39% - WF is DFL 27%) , 4th in effective FG% (53%), but only 7th in 2 PT% (49%). Given their limited inside presence, UNC has not gotten to the line a lot (8th in the ACC in FGA/FTA).

Defense: OK, but a lot better than WF - #7 in the ACC; #20 overall. UNC's strength on defense is keeping teams off the offensive boards (#1 in the ACC giving up offensive rebounds only 24% of the time). UNC's defense has not been great at stopping the 3 (37% - #12) or defending the paint (49% #10) in ACC games. UNC doesn't force a lot of TOs (#11 in the ACC in TO% D) either.

Lineup: Has a mix of vets and frosh. They start: 6-5 Fr. PG Coby White (and his expansive 'fro), 6-4 SG Sr. Kenny Williams, 6-9 F Sr. Cam Johnson (Pitt Transfer), 6-9 F So. Garrison Brooks, 6-8 C Sr. Luke Maye. UNC's bench has been limited by injuries. 6-11 Sterling Manly and Leaky Black have missed several games, and against UVA, 6-6 Frosh A-A Nassir Little turned an ankle. If those guys are out, UNC bench is essentially limited to 6-4 Brandon Robinson, 6-2 Seventh Woods. Everyone except Garrison Brooks can hit from behind the arc.

Bottom Line: WF is exactly what UNC needed. They are banged up and have Duke on deck. If UNC was visiting anyone else in the ACC, other than Pitt or BC, this would be a good spot to shock them, but WF will let UNC control tempo, and while it may be close early, it won't be long until NC is dunking and hitting uncontested 3s. If not for their injury situation, would expect that they would get to 100, and they may crack the century mark anyway, but it will be the walk-ons that do it, which would be just another WF basketball embarrasment.

So this would be a huge upset if we win?

106-67 UNC.

Wake leads early at 16-13. Childress and Hoard pick up 2nd foul in rare double fowl from the same team. Manning sits both players until half time.

Wake is behind 47-18 at half.

Forgot to include the projected score: UNC 87 WF 70.

KP gives the Deacs a 7% chance of victory.

Boy. How times have changed. The Demon Deacon Digest has this....WRONG !!!
The Game is at Noon. Bad info from our own source posted. Trying to keep attendance down I suppose.

The most points Wake has given up this season:
93 to Houston Baptist (OT)
92 to Georgia Tech
Today will be 100+

We have 24 at the half... Danny gives a sick halftime peptalk and we end up with 22 at the end of the game.

Maybe we ought to use a modified 4 corners, hold the ball every possession for the entire shot clock then chuck up a three at 1 sec....oh wait, that is our normal offense... nevermind
