2022 Atlanta Braves Season Thread: off season decisions loom

It sure feels nice to have guys like Ortega, Hechavarria, Joyce, and Culberson who can come in during the dog days of the season and keep the train rolling. With the injuries this team has sustained this season, most teams would have folded to an extent. If anything the Bravos have gotten better.

Headed to check out SunTrust Park for the 1st time over Labor Day weekend, pretty excited. Grew up going to 1-2 Braves games a year, back in the TBS glory days.

Would love to hear Ernie Johnson, Sr. say one more time "we're zipping right along tonight; we're already in the bottom of the third." Or Skip cracking-wise about an ex-wife. Those were great days to be a viewer, or a listener on WSB. Even when the games were meaningless, the broadcasts were entertaining.

Nothing like striking out 26 times and winning... Unreal.

We also left 24 on base (to their 15). Granted they played 14 innings it's still hard to fathom having that many baserunners and scoring 2 runs.

Relievers have been rolling. Dansby expected to be activated for today's make up in CO.

Should have won easily and scored 5 or 6 runs. Shot themselves in the foot every inning almost. Left man on second or third and one out at least 3 times today. Acuna, Freeman and Donaldson struck out in big situations. Donaldson swings at 3-0 pitch with Freeman on second late and flies out. Swarzak and Blevins essentially with nothing in teh 9th. Need to sweep Toronto because Nats will win easily vs Baltimore.

It sounds like Cervilli just had a cramp. Let's hope so. I can't watch Flowers back there anymore. He can't catch.

Magic number to clinch a playoff spot as of today is 16. That would put them at 97 wins. No team in the history of the MLB has missed the playoffs with more than 96 wins.

Magic number to clinch the division sits higher at 23. It’s probably not going to take that many but the way Washington has been playing it could easily take 100+ wins.
