House Investigations: Impeachment inquiry is officially on

If only it had been possible to imagine we’d end up in such a mess with Trump as POTUS.

Who could have seen this coming!?

Life comes at you fast...

What does contempt actually do?

A: Contempt of Congress is a federal misdemeanor, punishable by a maximum $100,000 fine and a maximum one-year sentence in federal prison. Q: Is the contempt of Congress power used often in fights between the legislative branch and the executive branch?

Can someone jailed for contempt be pardoned by a corrupt President?

Lol yeah that guy doesn’t give two shits about that contempt. He’s fucked if he shows up and he’s fucked if he doesn’t but way less fucked.

No. There’s no bargain to be made. The bargain is Barr isn’t locked up.

LOL. Wasn't Barr saying just yesterday that he was protecting Trump out of principle - that he was trying to protect "the institution of the Presidency" from prying congressional eyes? (A bullshit argument, btw). Now it turns out that (shockingly!) no principles are involved - Trump is playing the mafia godfather role again, trying to barter protection for his cronies in exchange for giving a few crumbs to his rivals and opponents. Except that this is supposed to be a constitutional republic instead of a sleazy business deal or mobster methods. #maga!

Of course it is. Executive privilege is for deliberations made involving the President and his executive duties. There’s no possible way tax returns would qualify.
