The only reason they get away with it is the millions of Americans who are just as hypocritical and see Republicans above the law and Democrats as inherently immoral just because.

2. GOP should grow some balls and a moral compass.

The Clinton impeachment directly led to Gore and Hillary’s losses. Heck, I’d say it led directly to Obama’s win. The Clinton impeachment was a huge political move that paid off. It cemented the lasting image of Bill and Hillary.

It’s mind blowing how many people who also have lived through the last 25 years don’t realize this much less our elected leaders over that time.

The mythology is that Republicans were punished in the midterms for impeaching Bill. The truth is impeachment had barely started and Democrats picked up a few House seats. Once Republicans hauled out Bill to testify and it sucked up all the media attention going into the presidential election, it’s been a huge win for Republicans over the last 21 years.

The Benghazi hearings are relevant too. They resulted in nothing of legal consequence, Hillary performed very well during the actual hearings, but try and tell me that they were a net positive for her in 2016? They got one vaguely useful soundbite ("What difference does it make at this point?"), but more importantly, they permanently linked her name with a shitty event. And that's before you get into the fact that they help start the server investigation.
 
She should have refused to go and called it a witch hunt and fake news and claimed to be the King of the Jews.

This. Of course part of this is because Democrats have no idea how to counterpunch. Hillary should have called out what a farce it is. She should have treated the Republican Senators like shit. The Democrats should have called out the Republicans too. But the Democrats are weak.

Republicans do better with fake investigations than Democrats do with real ones.
