House Investigations: Impeachment inquiry is officially on

I'm still not sure what you want me to say or how it confirms your world view, but yeah, rich people and big corporations don't pay taxes at a very high rate. People have been speculating that Trump has multiple years that he didn't pay taxes for quite some time.
Depends on the corporation. High growth corporations generally don't pay a lot of taxes. If your stock is not appreciating in value and you're not investing a lot of money into Capital Improvements then you're pretty much paying the standard tax rate on your book earnings

He already spun the “I’m not a shitty businessman im a shrewd tax filer” angle and it did/will work. Republicans think he’s cool for subverting the tax system because they believe all gov funded programs outside of military spending is abhorrent and probably socialist. This shit will help him. This motherfucker is untouchable to these dipshits. Sailor and wrangor and Jhmd and colonel angus will cast a vote for trump in 2020 with a hard on

Anyone who still supports Trump at this stage is truly a lost cause. I shudder to think what it would take for them to turn on him.

Ran out of actual news stories about Trump so have to re-run the news of him losing money in Atlantic City 30 years ago? It was news he was bankrupt back then.

The only part that's news is the bit where they said he inherited the equivalent of $413 million dollars in today's dollars when he was 2 years old? How rich would he have been if he just put it all in the S&P?

So going back he received $40 million in 1947. Using a calculator online he'd be worth $32 billion after taxes if he just invested in an index fund. He's probably worth a couple billion, so yes, he's a bad businessman

If you develop highly leveraged big real estate ventures then generally you can generate tax losses because you get the depreciation on the capital investments that represent somebody else's capital risk plus you have a lot of interest expense on your debt.

Yeah, it’s common knowledge that Trump is a terrible businessman who loses money a lot better than he makes money.

Also, y’all should listen to RJ. He’s been on this beat for awhile.

That's why I was dreading these news reports. There'd be so much donk takes about how literally everyone who invests in real estate's tax returns look like. But a Billion dollars in depreciation losses is still fairly abnormal.

That's a generous qualification.

In "conservative" world, remembering to add "probably" there would be considered highly nuanced thinking. Allowing for challenging complexities and what not. In other words, increasingly rare.

Here's a point of reference for Trump's accounting for 1% of all business losses in a year or more. In 1990, the US population was 250,000,000. One percent of that would be 2,500,000. Even if you take 1% of that 1%, we'd be talking about 25,000 people.

That takes sucking to a level NASA couldn't locate in space.

I was involved in a transaction a few years ago that we determined accounted for over 1% of all corporate tax revenues in the u.s. that year.

I'm not sure what your point is. Median household income in 1990 was like $40,000.

I didn't know you worked with Donald Ross...

Half measures. Either they won't pay the fines or they'll start a GoFundMe and make 10 times the amount of the fine from rabid Trumpsters who love to give rich people money.

One of the ideas I heard the other day was disbarment for lawyers so you essentially take away their livelihood. I think you can get creative so not everything is just a fine.
