Having an alumnus who is one of the greatest players in NCAA and NBA history and yet not having him openly supporting your program is a missed opportunity. An opportunity that Wake cannot afford to lose. So how do we bring him back into the fold?

One of the top paint ball complexes in the country would be a great start.

On the list of major issues to worry about...this is probably close to the bottom. Hire a good coach, win games and the rest will take care of itself.

Isn't it the feeling that Duncan pulled away from Wake because of the way Wellman handled the "firing" of Odom (who Duncan had a great relationship)? Hopefully, Currie can get him back and more involved.

Why do we care?

Exactly. What do you want Duncan to do? Get a mid-court seat and wave a towel to get the fans fired up in the final seconds against WCU? Hang out in front of the Joel and be a greeter for the hundreds that attend the HBU game? Secretly play a role in the WF basketball recruiting process?

Duncan lives in San Antonio. He has a life-time gig with the Spurs, and he has worked his arse off to get the Virgin Islands back to live-able conditions after a generational disaster. It's not like he is going the Danny Manning route and going to come to WF as a graduate assistant. His legacy will always benefit WF, but it's delusional to think that he is going to work back channels to get 16 year-old kids to commit to WF.

Really creative answers.

Notwithstanding the snide remarks, Duncan could be really helpful in recruiting. Send recruits a clip of him at Wake and with the Spurs (in case they are not fans of the game they play) and have him give them a call from wherever. If he is truly sold on the new coach and facilities, he could make a compelling pitch for WF. I suspect the past stars in Durham and Chapel Hill have played a role in their recruiting of 4 and 5 star recruits. It is too bad that the biggest star in Wake history is not actively representing Wake on some level.

Pretty sure Tim Duncan cares practically nothing about the Danny Manning disaster.

Unless Duncan is a paid and sanctioned as an individual permitted to recruit on behalf of WF, what you are advocating would be a violation of NCAA rules. Also, a lot of supposition about stars in Durham and Chapel Hill putting in work on behalf of Duke and UNC. Don't think Christian Laettner or Rasheed Wallace are sending video-clips and making phone calls to 16 year-olds.

I thought Tim just happened to be visiting his former team mate at Wake, along with Chris Paul "just happened" to be in Winston and stopped by Wake while Harry Giles was on his official visit. Didn't work, but. A good try. So he has been more involved since his retirement.

Rasheed Wallace is a HS basketball coach now.
