The Mueller Report is Delivered

Please tell me where the Barr report says Russia did not interfere in the election in effort to put Trump in the White House.

This happened nobody is disputing it. They also tried to help get Bernie nominated.

Do you understand the English language? Even Trump's handpicked goober, Barr, stated Trump was "NOT EXONERATED". Do you understand what the words mean?

Do you understand that this wasn't an investigation of whether Trump and his minions have been compromised by the Russians?

The "coup" here was Putin putting his hand chosen candidate into the WH.

Do you also understand there are many other cases going on in SDNY and other places?

Checkmate Karl:

Rachel Maddow, for instance, struggling to maintain her dignity after two years playing Madame DeFarge on MSNBC, tried to console her fans with the prospect of Mr. Trump getting raked over the coals by the DOJ’s Southern District of NY prosecutors for crimes as yet unpredicted — really, whatever they might find if they turn over enough rocks in Manhattan. Perhaps she doesn’t know how the justice system actually works in this country: we prosecute crimes not persons. In places like Stalin’s Soviet Union and Hitler’s Germany, you first choose a person to eliminate and then fit them to a crime. If no crime can be found, one is easily manufactured. In the USA, a predicate crime is required before you can launch a prosecution. Perhaps the actual Attorney General, Mr. Barr, will advise the avid staff of the Southern District of NY how this works.

So, it's now OK for the Trump administration to start dictating to federal and state prosecutors and courts what they can and cannot investigate? Maybe Barr can also start telling House Democrats what they can and cannot investigate as well, even though the Constitution clearly gives the House the power and right to investigate the other branches of the federal government. That's an interesting philosophy that conservatives are developing, albeit one that has little to do with checks and balances.

Release the full report so we can all see what the investigation actually concluded. I believe Barr when he provides the bottom line from his perspective. I also wanna read what Mueller found that made him unable to commit one way or the other that obstruction occurred.

McConnell just blocked a vote on a Schumer resolution that called for the Mueller Report to be released to the public. It's essentially the same resolution that overwhelmingly passed the House 420-0. McConnell claims that he wants Barr and Mueller to determine what can and cannot be released. Lindsey Graham blocked Schumer's first attempt to introduce the resolution in the Senate. Go figure.

I think the crazies on here are getting a little too excited about a summary of a summary which only says:

1. Mueller didn’t think there was enough evidence of a conspiracy (a legal term much narrower than collusion or coordination) to interfere with the election between Trump Campaign and Russian government.

2. Mueller didn’t want to make the call on Obstruction despite there being enough evidence to support a decision to prosecute.

3. Mueller found a whole bunch of shit outside the limited purview of conspiracy to meddle in the election and obstruction of justice. Instead of including those in his final report, he farmed them out to other law enforcement agencies, many of whom are still investigating Trump.

A close reading of the Barr letter actually seems worse than I thought for Trump. It implies that there is evidence potentially supporting an Obstruction of Justice charge that hasn’t been publicly reported, concedes that most of the investigatios into Trump and Co.’s criminal behavior are still ongoing, and leaves open the possibility that Mueller’s report includes evidence that Trump and Russia had interactions regarding election meddling that didn’t arise to the level of conspiracy, but are damning nonetheless.

We know the last of those is true just from public reporting over the last 2 years, btw.

He did that to leave an opening for congress to keep investigating and to save face
