Official 2019 MLB Regular Season Thread - Trade Deadline Wednesday

Knee-jerk reaction after watching highlights of last night's game is the Phillies are done. Depending on how many games they have left against the Mets, I wouldn't be surprised to see them finish under .500. Hard to think Kapler survives the rest of the season, let alone the off-season. It just looks like some of those players couldn't care less.

Also, the Dodgers do everything well. Literally everything. Double steal. Safety squeeze. Hustle IF single. I guess their flaw is the middle of the bullpen, but isn't that everyone's flaw? If we're headed for a Yankees Dodgers WS, it should be pretty goddamn fun to watch.

Dodgers are rather white this year #puighadnofriends

3 team swap has Puig and Franmil Reyes to Indians, Bauer to Reds and the reds #1 prospect to the Padres.

Bauer is controlled through next year - not sure what the Reds were thinking, but their rotation with Castillo and Gray should be pretty decent. Still dont think they can beat any of the three teams ahead of them next year.

That Reds-Pirates brawl last night basically happened immediately after news of the trade broke with Puig in the thick of it. Amir Garrett took on the entire Pirates.

Teams were bidding on Garrett as he is a 6-6 lefty that strikes out 13 per 9 innings, but MLB will suspend him for an extended period after he rushed the Pirates dugout while indiscriminately throwing punches. With only 50+ games left, the fact that Garrett will miss an uncertain number of games has to impact his trade value. It was fun to watch: https://www.mlb.com/news/reds-pirates-benches-clear

Gotta imagine he was going to cost a ton - Garrett is a solid (assuming he continues to keep the ball in the park) and controllable for a long time. With the Reds going all in for the next year, he would seem like a piece they should hold onto. Guess they will now.

Jesus Aguilar traded to the Rays - could be a solid add if he finds his swing from 2018.

Things starting to pick up.

Nats get a pair of average relievers. Pomeranz to Milwaukee. Roark to Oakland.

They got some relievers too. Haven't seen the money changing hands but they'll keep that 1-2 punch when Cole walks.

Giants go from sellers to buyers too, picking up Gennett - he's only been back for a month, hasn't looked like himself, but could be a solid bat for them.

Braves' bullpen moves probably locked up the division for them unless their starting pitching completely collapses.

Phillies pitcher Vince Velazquez throws a runner out at home from LF. That's OF Roman Quinn on the mound.

I’ve never seen a team with as many RP injuries as the Phillies have. 7 of their top 8 relievers are hurt, and the eight guy from that group (Neris), is suspended.

Does Kirk Gibson purposefully try to talk like Bill Murray in Caddyshack?

Fat ass Tim Beckham popped for banned substance. RIP Phan and Apetit.

Nats-Mets weekend series looks to be pretty good. Strasburg/Stroman, Corbin/Syndegaard, Sanchez/DeGrom.
