2019 NBA Draft Thread: Hoard playing for Blazers in Summer League

Gentry is a Shelby NC native and and nba lifer and he is about to get more ticket requests when they play in Charlotte than he has ever had his entire career combined.

The Knicks did better than the Suns and Cavs and people act like they lost.

So will the new lottery rules encourage or discourage teams from trading picks?

I don't think it will affect anything, for some reason teams and fans value unknown #assets much higher than known players. The thought will always be there that a top-10 pick several years from now will be a certain star despite the fact that the guys drafted in the same position the last several years mostly sucked when they got on the court.

Looking back at the 15 #1 picks since LeBron, only Kyrie has had anything remotely approaching team success, and he was just riding LeBron. None of the more recent ones look like they will eventually get there (Ayton, Fultz, Simmons, KAT, Wiggins, Bennett). Teams way overvalue the spot of the pick instead of focusing on picking the correct player regardless of the number. If you are drafting anywhere in the lottery or just outside the lottery there is no reason to move up, chances are there will be a really good player available whenever you pick, but you have to focus on finding the right one.

One change to the lottery I'd like to see to discourage some tanking - no team could be in the lottery more than 2 years in a row and would be ineligible for the next 2 years after that second year. If you can't become at least mediocre after 2 lottery picks, you're doing a lot wrong.

Well come on, there was really only gonna be one winner in this lottery. Knicks had the worst record, so not picking #1 feels like a loss.

Agreed.

Interesting that there are 4 teams who have never moved up in lottery. Knicks have 5th worst lottery record and after last night have the 3rd worst (in terms of overall +/-)

This is before last night

Mock draft - Jaylen Hoard #53 pick to the Jazz

NOLA should never have had an NBA team in the first place - they don't care about basketball there at all. It was funny to see how awkward Zion acted in his interview after the draft.

Would Zion actually consider going back to Duke?

Pretty clear he doesn't want to go to NO at all. He should pull an Elway/Eli and get on a bigger market team.

Hell be fine in new Orleans. Much better town than at least half of NBA franchises. Better than Cleveland, Indianapolis, Orlando, ok city, Houston, salt lake city, etc

Plus he either plays w Anthony Davis or the three players he brings. This is a better situation than New York, which has no team really to speak of until they sign a fa or two

It would be funny if he pulled an Eli and threatened to sit out if going to NO over the Knicks, and then the Knicks draft him and trade him to NO for Davis.

Much better town yes, but not better basketball town. All of those you listed outside of Orlando are very supportive of their teams. Especially Indy.
