Shaka to Michigan?

I heard on ESPN 3 last night during the women's softball broadcast that Michigan was in negotiations with Danny Manning to be their basketball coach.

Right. But someone said Wellman whiffed. We picked Prosser. And the collective opinion of this board is that Prosser was a great coach. You can’t have it both ways.

belein is better
 
As good as Skip was (and I'm not one who uses "great" to describe him), Beilein is borderline HOF.
 
Not hiring Beilein in favor of Skip was not a whiff. There are plenty of other egregious errors to lay on Wellman, but that's not one of them.

That info came from someone who has known SHAKA's agent for many, many years and knows SHAKA. So far everything he has said has been true. We had SHAKA, but Hatch FUCKED it. The part of the deal was giving SHAKA's wife a full professorship position. She is graduated from Harvard AND Northwestern. Hatch reneged on the promise at the last minute thinking SHAKA would take the money anyway. The insult was too great. In addition to the fuck up with his wife, SHAKA wasn't all that happy to have to come in and lose for 2-3 years, but would have tried. Hatch really FUCKED that one up. Hatch FUCKING Shaka was ALMOST bad as the classless orca-fat internet douches like ChrisL who ATTACKED Shaka's wife for pages and pages and pages. We really do have a group of posters who have proven to be Hall of Fame douches. Wake was the dream job for SHAKA. It's EVERYTHING he had wanted for years. It was the small, quality, education, a community, that he and his family could be a part of and top bball.

Cliff notes - RJ proclaimed he had a source (haha) who insisted that Shaka turned down the job because we wouldn't offer his wife a professorship. Note that Maya Smart does not have PHD, was not part of academia then, and is not part of academia now.

Beilein was not demonstrably better than Skip when Skip was hired at Wake. A review of their resumes would give Prosser the edge for coaching in a higher level conference.

A year later Beilein moved to WVU. Then in 2007 Skip moved to heaven and Beilein went to Michigan.

Both were up and coming mid-major coaches as of the time Prosser was hired at Wake. Prosser had a better resume at THAT TIME. Beilein was not far behind. Beilein's earthly resume went on to be greater than Prosser's.
