Totally Unofficial 2019/2020 Premier League Thread (NWT)

Liverpool say:
"Invincibles"
Watford: "No"

"Okay. Treble"
Chelsea: "No"

"Double."
Atletico: "No"

"Just the Premier League then"
Coronavirus: "No"

How are these games not cancelled yet? Ridiculous

Oh yeah that shit is getting shut down. Arteta and CHO have probably been in close contact with 100+ EPL coaches and players during the last 2 weeks.

Interesting they only shut things down until April 4th. Guess it gives them time to reevaluate, but I don't see them salvaging the season.

International Break from domestic football this weekend/next week.

What a bummer to lose out on league play for 10 days.

Liverpool FC announced revenue of over 500 million and a profit over 40 million a little over a month ago.

Today they laid off non-playing staff to help their bottom line.

You'll never walk alone, indeed.

They were furloughed and still getting paid.

They were furloughed and still getting paid.

By the government.

A plastic “club” just like Spurs. Nothing more than a PR machine, not a club. And most certainty not in tune with the communities they operate in.

Yes, 80% by the government, and therefore British taxpayer.

A club that made tens of millions in profit last year and owned by a billionaire is using a law intended to keep small businesses solvent throughout the Covid-19 crisis in order to maximize their own profit for their fiscal year 2021.

It's indefensible.

Jesus Christ. Who wrote his shit? Donald Trump's campaign committee?

“It is as a direct result of this extensive consultation and our own internal deliberations at various levels throughout the Club that we have opted to find alternative means despite our eligibility to apply for the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme.

“Our intentions were, and still are, to ensure the entire workforce is given as much protection as possible from redundancy and/or loss of earnings during this unprecedented period. We are therefore committed to finding alternative ways to operate while there are no football matches being played that ensures we are not applying for the government relief scheme.

JUST FUCKING PAY THEM. END OF WORRY. NO ALTERNATIVES NEEDED.

But in the spirit of transparency we must also be clear, despite the fact we were in a healthy position prior to this crisis, our revenues have been shut off yet our outgoings remain. And like almost every sector of society, there is great uncertainty and concern over our present and future.

oh no, they might run at a negative for a few months while employing the people that literally helped them because successful? how awful.

Liverpool FC need a new PR person. That was fucking trash.

Also, and shouldn't even need to be said, but being shamed into doing the humane and decent thing shouldn't be praised or celebrated.

LFC showed their values and got called out for them, rightfully so. Its shameful.
Same for Newcastle and Spurs -- just awful.

And Burnley can fuck right off too.
