Danny Manning replacement search thread

At real programs big donors force change, at Wake they are happy jock sniffing and getting wished happy birthday on twitter

They'd rather put their name on a building, and the AD can sell facilities as to why the program was failing instead of falling on the sword for being unable to hire talent.

The level of the people he is recruiting has been waning for the past 2-3 years. We used to be recruiting against blue bloods and the ACC. Now it's UNC-G and other weak ass programs. He has accepted not getting the top players. That's quitting.

Look at the people who have been on our radar over the past couple of years. It used to be top quality. This is falling dramatically. I wish it weren't so, but it is.

That just means that the recruits, like everyone else outside of Wake's administration, have recognized that Danny Manning coaching at Wake is nothing more than a continuing exercise in failure.

Accurate.

Please make sure not to touch them failure is contagious

Danny Manning has offered 60 players to fill 6 scholarship spots. Goes to show he has no targeted strategy and no chance for success. Clueless.

Ouch. Had no idea it was that bad. Given the offers we've talked about, just how bad are some of the rest that haven't even been discussed here?

Other than Duke, UNC, KY teams often offer ridiculous amounts of players knowing they won't get certain ones and are doing favors for others. Some "offers" come with qualifications for taking them. The raw number isn't something to be too worried about.

The quality of those taking visits is quite disconcerting.

Top programs and coaches don't take the shotgun approach. Very targeted.

If Duke or UNC were to offer 60 players for 6 spots at this point, it would be most or all of the Top 30 and a smattering of Top 100 players.

I specifically mentioned that Duke an d UNC don't do this. You can't compare us at this point. They select. We recruit.

That was in response to Phd's comment. Obviously blue bloods select. Mike Hopkins at Washington - 16 offers for 3 spots. Archie Miller at Indiana - 25 offers for 7 spots. Rick Barnes at Tennessee 26 offers for 7 spots.
