Danny Manning replacement search thread

I saw a interesting scientific paper today.

It seems that scientists have concluded that Wake Forest basketball under Danny Manning actually defies the Laws of Physics. After a five year study it can now be concluded that Manning has achieved something that has never before been observed: he has created a system that both sucks AND blows at the same time.
When asked for comment the head of the study, Dr. B. Lantently Obvious, said, "we didn’t all agree at the start of this that Mr. Manning could achieve his goal of creating this horrible machine, but oh heavens yes, we all agree that he’s done it now!"

Let's just let the season play out... I'm sure a perfect candidate will develop into an obvious choice come early Spring.

And then we'll let that guy go to Arkansas and instead hire Russell Turner.

Keep Horn’s lighting guy though.

We'll get a chance to see potential Manning replacement Pat Chambers and the KP #33 Nittany Lions in a few weeks. Still room to jump on the bandwagon before he's a hot name on the carousel!

Also kind of shocked that we weren't the odd ACC team left out of the ACC-B1G Challenge. TJDK!

They can't leave us out every year. If they could, they would.

Prosser and Gaudio owned the challenge games by the way.

The new coach will have a decent first year core in Chaundee, Mucius, Massoud and Sarr. I think Neath could be a solid player with good coaching. The cupboard won't be completely bare.

Yeah, nobody's going to transfer. Will the new coach be able to hold together this All World recruiting class too ?

With the right coach, we could add a big body grad transfer and be very competitive next year.

Mike Rhoades should still be option #1.

Agree that Rhodes should be on the short list. Among others, that could be under consideration; the program's perception has fallen so steeply that some/many of these guys may not be interested even if the money is better:

- LaVall Jordan Butler
- Kevin Willard Seton Hall
- Pat Chambers Penn State
- Travis Steele Xavier
- Craig Smith Utah State
- Steve Forbes ETSU
- Bob Richey Furman
- Richie McKay Liberty

If we haven't already, we need to have Matt McMahon (41), Murray State head coach, to the watch list. He has a background in the North Carolina-Tennessee area, having played at App. St. as a guard, and then having coached at Tennessee, App. St., UNC-W, before heading to Murray State.

In his four years as HC at Murray State, here is his record:

2015–16 Murray State 17–14 10–6 T–1st (West)
2016–17 Murray State 16–17 8–8 3rd (West)
2017–18 Murray State 26–6 16–2 1st NCAA First Round
2018–19 Murray State 28–5 16–2 T–1st NCAA Second Round (beat Marquette, lost to Florida St.)

Recruited Ja Morant, who was completely unranked by recruiting services.

Despite the loss of Ja Morant this year, Murray State was still selected to finish second in the OVC, behind Belmont. Currently 2-1, with a 20 point win over Southern, a 19 point loss @ TENN, and a 66 point win over Brescia, an NAIA team.

A very solid young coach.

Travis Steele is not leaving Xavier to come to Wake Forest. Please. This isn't 20-30 years ago.
