2020 Pit Fantasy Football League One - Edarem vs. Wolf in the 'ship

Damn you, Nonny. All you had to do was mail it in and let me continue to be the bane of Gooner throughout the playoffs. Note to self, wait till Round 7 to start drinking during a 20 team draft. Good luck to the final 8!

by my calculation the playoff teams are all but set regardless of outcomes tonight. deaconpeach has to win and score more than 102.82 in doing so.
otherwise it just comes down to seeding teams 4-8. top three are set.

bernbp, deachawk, barca (seeds 1-3)
upschitts, cocks, screamin, edarem and lonewolf (seeds TBD)

which team are you? i thought you were edarem. you're in unless deaconpeach wins and scores more than 102.82. and of course if baltimore doesn't score more than 34.8

[*]Edarem: Edarem's biggest rival is mediocrity. Edarem's team should be good. Edarem himself is a good fantasy manger as proven by his 300-203-1 record on Yahoo since 2003. But his team is just...average. Maybe it's enough to sneak into the playoffs. Maybe it's not. But what it definitely isn't is anything to get excited about.

Twas just enough mediocrity. Good luck to everyone in the playoffs. I love how competitive and challenging it always is to play in this 20 team league. Lets keep it going. Thanks Gooner for your writeups this season and to WFF for commissioning

Imagine missing out on a playoff spot by 6 points through the entire season. Up Schitt's Creek has to carry the torch now.

Here are your Week 13 stats:

Week 13 Awards
  • The "Disco Kid Memorial" award for winning with vastly fewer points than the league average goes to both redwing and DeaconPeach who both scraped out victories this week despite scoring 66.93 and 68.7 points respectively. Sadly, their fortunes were not enough to give them an overall happy ending as Peach narrowly missed out on the playoffs and redwing's victory was not enough to keep him from the bottom of the scoring column on the season. Better luck next year you guys.
  • The "Whew, That Was Close" award goes to Lone Wolf who needed a victory to secure a spot in the playoffs but watched his team put up an impotent performance in the "Who's Sleeping on the Couch" Bowl with DeaconPeach. His weekly low score left the door open for Empanadas y Arepas, who had made a tremendous push for the playoffs the last two weeks, but EyA came up 5.19 points short of catching Lone Wolf and getting the 8th seed on points. Lone Wolf will not have been comfortable with that but will feel blessed that his Round 1 matchup is top seed bernbp5 and not any of the truly menacing teams.
  • The "Nice" award goes to DeaconPeach and her 68.7 points. Proper rounding, y'all. Nice.
  • The "Is Scoring Important?" award goes to the tandem of Disco Kid and AnonymousDeac who firmly put the question to bed as Nonny smoked Disco Kid by nearly 47 points to close out a disappointing season with a victory and thus snuffing out the last vestiges of Disco Kid's playoff hopes. Nonny will feel particularly aggrieved to have finished so far outside of the playoff places and especially hard done by finishing two places below Disco Kid despite scoring over 200 more points on the season. Disco Kid, however, should surely feel nothing but gratitude to the fantasy gods for keeping him in the running this long and taking what could have been a truly dismal season and turning it into something fun. I know we've had our differences, DK, but you're hall of fame in my book. (Narrator: he actually wasn't)
  • The "Superstar" award goes to Darren Waller as his 13/200/2 line and 38.5 overall fantasy points almost led Empanadas y Arepas to capturing a playoff spot against all odds. So close, EyA.
Season Awards
  • The "King of the Castle" award goes to bernbp5 who was able to steady the ship after a midseason blip and take home the overall #1 seed in the playoffs despite only scoring the 6th most points. Congratulations bern, great season.
  • The "Terminator" award goes to DEACHAWK who nearly lapped the field in scoring this season with a grand total of 1240.1 points for a weekly average of 95.39 points. I won't name names, but there were a few teams who never hit that mark in a single week this year, let alone averaging it. Just total domination from DEACHAWK, he will hope that continues for three more weeks.
  • The "MVP" award goes to Kyler Murray who led the league in scoring with 317.98 points, a weekly average of 26.5 points in the 12 games he played for SD3.
  • The "Offensive Player of the Year" award for non-QBs goes to Dalvin Cook and his 257.9 points to lead DEACHAWK to the playoffs.
  • The "Weekly Wonder" award goes to DEACHAWK who put up the highest score of the season with 131.78 points in Week 4 against the incredibly unlucky Up Schitt's Creek. Monster performance.
  • The "Weekly Blunder" award goes to Fighting Cocks who put up the lowest score of the season with 33.21 points in Week 10 against the incredibly fortunate SD3. Need some Viagra.
  • The "Mount Everest" award goes to Sleepy who found himself at the top of the weekly standings a league-high three times this season. Tied for second are DEACHAWK, Nonny, and Barca with two weeks each. Sadly for Sleepy, this wasn't enough as he was only able to scrap his way to a 3-7 record in weeks where he did not have top score.
  • The "Mariana Trench" award goes to Disco Kid who unsurprisingly found himself at the bottom of the weekly standings a league-high three times this season. Tied for second are Satan's Minions and Edarem with two weeks each. An honorable Mariana Trench mention goes to redwing who despite only achieving a weekly bottom score once found himself at the overall bottom of the standings after the whole season.
  • The "Frodo Baggins" award for finally achieving his goal after months of pain and suffering goes to me, Manning's Miracles. These writeups have been incredibly fun and I cannot thank enough those that have repped me or reached out with kind words. I really hope that this league continues next year (though maybe with two leagues of 10 teams....? :couch:) and that I can be a part of it somehow. I will maybe do some playoff writeups depending on how the holidays impact my free time, only time will tell.
Good luck to all playoff teams, may the best team win. A final consolation and goodbye to my fellow teams who did not make the playoffs this year, we always have next season.

will I get the Barca team that scores like 62 points or the one that scores like 115? Only time will tell. Josh Allen vs the Stillers doesn't give me a lot of hope, but they did just get beat by WFT so who knows.

You know if you stopped counting all my matchups when I was leading at some point, I went 13-0, shit is rigged

Thanks to the commish for all his good work!

And with McCaffrey coming back, my team is now predicted to score 93.14 points this week which is a higher current projection than each of the eight playoff teams. My team feels very 2020 and I'm glad that I've been put out of my misery.

Gooner. Don’t ever suggest breaking this league down to 10 teams. The 20 teams is what makes this fun. In years past there were two leagues. The bottom four from league 1 would be relegated and the top four from league two would be promoted. I think last year was the first year without league two so we have all become dynasties.

I actually was in the last promotion class to the big leagues. As fun as 20 teams is, it's kind of insane (especially this year with COVID).

Plus my breakdowns would be way better if I only had to do 10 teams at a time lol. Obviously if it's not the will of the people, it will remain at 20.

Sorry, Commish you are a victim of your own success. My kids now want me to read your writeups to them and one is using your awards in his league. Although, he needs some pointers on humor and subtly.

I totally agree that the fantasy Gods were my copilot all the way until we reached the playoff runway - Then I took over the controls, gave them my beer, and buried the bitch twenty feet under the tarmac. Walked away without a scratch, but cried seeing my playoff hopes burn in the ashes.

I hope everyone stays safe and look forward to seeing who emerges victorious!
