One of the greatest rock drummers in history has died at 80. Cream and Buffalo Springfield were probably the first super groups.

Cream showed what a three piece rock band could do.

RIP

Total maniac. One of the best to ever do it. There’s probably not the modern idea of the drum solo without him.

No disrespect to Cream, RJ, but Jimi Hendrix got a lot out of his three-piece band!

Cream's first record was in 1966. Jimi's was in 1967.

Given that Jimi got to England in 66, they probably saw each other a lot.

Bulger penned a memorial to Baker for Rolling Stone. “Ginger drove sports cars off cliffs in Algeria,” he wrote. “The night Jimi Hendrix died, Ginger Baker was with him. He chain-smoked for 50 years. He took heroin for decades. Four wives. Three children. He was a living testament to the stiff upper lip that gained Britain its empire. So long, Ginge. Don’t worry, like you always said: ‘The devil takes care of its own.’”

Clapton went with the fro and the colorful clothes right after seeing Hendrix perform for the first time.
