2020 College Basketball Coaching Carousel

Dave Leitao's tenure at DePaul looks a lot like Manning's at WF except: a) Leitao's coaching tenure at DePaul is one year shorter; b) Leitao doesn't have the one NCAA tourney year that Manning has.

Here is Leitao's conference record each year at DePaul:

2016: 3-15
2017: 2-16
2018: 4-14
2019: 7-11
2020: 3-15

19-71 (.211)

Doesn't exactly scream for a contract extension. Maybe Wellman is advising DePaul's AD.

DePaul is idiotic - they dropped $70M on a new arena that's 6 miles and 30 minutes via public transit from their campus when they own an empty lot across the street.

That sounds like what Penthouse did when building their casino in AC. People kept telling Bob Guccione to buy the vacant lots across the street. He didn't. He had to take out floors to build a parking lot. He also committed the two cardinal sins in running a casino. He had clocks and windows put on his casino floor.

What a shock that he was the first casino in AC to go belly up.

Seeing situations like this while people around the country are suffering financially really starts to turn me off to this whole thing. Not that this inequality wasn't true already but this situation is bringing it into even more stark relief.

The only plus side to the DePaul situation is they got the government to throw in around $105M for the thing since its right next to McCormick Place. It isn't a bad place for an arena, just a bad place for an arena for DePaul.

Every D-1 school will want to schedule DePaul.

And Wake Forest for that matter if DM is still our coach.

"It can't be like, let's go up to Winston-Salem and play Wake and make sure we get some good ribs on the way back. Teams have got to dread to play you in your gym." - Skip Prosser

On campus arenas are over-rated.

well, it's a little more complicated than that

the public funding wasn't going to be spent in Lincoln Park to cover the other $100 million

terrible waste of taxpayer money, but Wintrust Arena is a billion times better than Allstate Arena for Depaul

edit: I see you made the same point

Only 19% of DePaul students live in on-campus housing, but most of them do live in the surrounding neighborhoods of Lincoln Park and Lakeview - Wintrust Arena is much better than Allstate Arena out in Rosemont (which is about 15 miles from campus and impossible to get to via public transit), but it would be akin to the Joel being out at Hanes Mall

Wintrust is a very nice arena, much better than Allstate if only because it has bigger seats :)

I remember it being a little bit of a walk, but I took the train from from downtown to the Allstate arena for the sweet 16. Agree it is better for the students due to distance and AllState Arena was/is a dump.

That’s a good hype video.

JMU once hired Lefty Drisell. Maybe they would like to make a splash again and hire Danny

They got tired of waiting for Danny and hired Mark Byington, HC at Georgia Southern. He's semi-local to JMU and said he likely would have played there if Lefty had just asked. He ended up at UNC-W instead.

Solid hype video. I would have preferred if he gave his "the only place that has ever been home is this one" quote right from the UAB court and then he drained a 3 pointer... but I give it a solid B.

UAB is one of those schools that everyone probably likes, other than Bama / Auburn fans who have unfounded concerns about them weakening their programs.

Jim Christian returning to BC.
