Taggart just got canned and starts the Coaching Carousel early

4-18. One 7 win season. Three 2 win seasons. SMU is doing way better without him. Pretty clear he’s a trash coach.

You see where SMU is now and realize he built that right ?

It's like pointing out that Clawson is a shitty coach because he's .500 lifetime.

You do realize that Clawson was 6-18 after two seasons?

Clawson was hired to be a turnaround artist and had an established rep to support it. Also Wake isn’t Arkansas.

Firing a college football coach after fewer than two seasons is a bad move but we shouldn’t be shocked after FSU set a precedent.

Almost wrote exactly this before seeing Biff handled.

Morris was doing well at SMU... Major reason why he got the Arkansas job.

0-fer the SEC in 2 seasons is bad, though.

I think 2 seasons is way too early to pull the plug, but Arkansas has been flat out awful.

Remember when Grobe was flirting with the Arkansas job. I would say that it seems like the type of place that would be interested in a turn around specialist like Clawson, but this firing shows they don´t have the patience for that kind of thing.

A CFB podcast I was listening to, discussed Stanford and Northwestern both could be looking at potential coaching changes, doubt either one of them, but those both would potential Clawson landing spots.

If Shaw or Fitzgerald got fired, a bigger school would gladly hire either of them.

Sounds like Odell Haggins is a legit candidate for FSU.

Not sure that will please the fan base.

I guess you could use the success Coach O has had at LSU as an argument for promoting from within. But that seems more like a fluke than a solid strategy.

They can point to Dabo as a success in that situation, but he (Odell) just doesn’t stick me as the guy to get FSU back where they believe they should be. Of course I thought the same thing about Dabo at first too.

Yeah. We got a good laugh when they hired Dabo.

How can this be? Stoops’s press conference is any day now.

Football takes longer to turn around than basketball.

Few true freshmen make major impacts in FB. Many do in BB.

Because of the number of players needed, two or three really good recruits can radically alter a basketball team. In football they may be noted as bright spots in a murk of mediocrity.

Anyone else see the Terps canning Locksley after 2 years or less? Who would want the Baatan-like schedule of that division? Yes, you can be in the playoff picture if you win, but a lot of bumps in that road. Their fanbase may not be as unreasonable as FSU's but the buyout money is going to be there. I don't think he was a great hire but he is deserving of a fairly long leash.

It's Maryland.
No disrespect to you, Tags, but who gives a shit?

MD has a ton of issues. They have to pay a big settlement to the family of Jordan McNair and to DJ Durkin for firing him. MD's biggest football benefactor, Under Armor founder Kevin Plank, is having his own financial issues. MD just doesn't have the cash around to fire Locksley early and/or to make a big splash hire. The Locklsey/MD deal is for five years, and even if/when MD continues to suck, MD will give Locksley at least 4 years and probably all 5 before moving on because they don't have alternatives.

Glad MD is stuck in hell in the Big 10 East Division, and also glad that support for MD basketball has waned after leaving the ACC. Their athletic department and the school is a mess (they bungled an infectious disease breakout on campus last year which was another disaster). BTW, hope WF drills the Terps in the NCAA soccer tourney.
