Taggart just got canned and starts the Coaching Carousel early

Actual vs. reported attendance at Mizzou

According to NCAA reporting documents obtained by the Missourian through an open-records request, the average number of tickets scanned for the football team’s seven home contests in 2018 was 24,377 per game, or roughly 47 percent of what the school reported in its game box scores.

Athletic department officials, however, say the numbers they reported to the NCAA aren’t a full picture of the actual ticketed attendance in the 2018 season because faulty scanners, which were sensitive to the elements, and poor Wi-Fi connectivity forced event staffers to move large swaths of fans through the gates without recording their tickets into the system.

Reported attendance has declined

Mizzou vs. SEC:

Avg. attendance

Missouri … SEC

2014: 65,285 … 77,694

2015: 65,120 … 78,630

2016: 52,236 … 77,507

2017: 51,490 … 75,074

2018: 51,466* … 73,994

Missouri is a school that could be patient and give Clawson time to develop a football program. Historically, they have won 55% of their games and have been to a post season bowl on 33 occasions.

I don’t think Mizzou is a place that you leave for if you already have a power 5 job and a ton of security. Yeah, it’s a better job than Wake, but not enough better to leave behind a 10 year guarantee (or whatever he has left).

Are you sure about this? Odom's regular season record was 25-25 and he won at least 6 games in 3 out of his 4 seasons before being dismissed.

Doesn't sound like the bastion of security to me... for the sake of comparison Clawson was 21-29 after his first 4 seasons at Wake.

Exactly. He went 8-4 in the ACC and he would be expected to do much more than that in the SEC and it would be much tougher.

Pretty sure Iowa State extended him last year too. Power V schools don't respect the Iowa State program; so, he is always mentioned as a candidate when there is a Power V vacancy. For all of the love he gets, his best year at Iowa State is 8-5. If they win their bowl game, he will equal that mark.

Also, in addition to Lincoln Riley there are rumors that NFL teams are kicking the tires on Matt Rhule. He was an assistant coach for the Giants under Tom Coughlin before getting the head job at Temple. Apparently, the Giants are among the teams interested.

Two years ago the Colts came around and last year it was the Jets. The Jets job was reportedly one of his dream jobs (he grew up a Jets fan) but the rumor was that they wouldn't let him pick his own staff, so he passed. Don't know the truth to that, but his stint with the Giants and his coaching style/philosophy does seem to point towards a future NFL HC job.

Jets gonna Jet....good job hiring an NFL retread instead!

Mizzou is not a desirable job for a current P5 head coach.

All of the talk on the local (Dallas) sports radio stations about Baylor is that it’s assumed that he will jump at the first NFL HC job he can get.

I live in Arkansas and the only two names that are coming up on the local sports radio shows are Lane Kiffin and Lane Kiffin. I mean, you might as well go ahead and print his new business cards because this fan base (and their radio hosts) have already decided. I can't wait for Arkansas to hire someone else like Chad Morris and this state lose its shit.

Clawson would be crazy to leave right now. Recruiting for him in NC will never be easier. Doeren on the hottest of seats. Duke's Grandpa seat getting hot. Grandpa Brown makes a bowl thanks to one play by Duke with 4 top 30 recruiting classes on his bench. Add to that Boston College makes a bonehead move. FSU clown show. Syracuse shows no signs of a breakout. Soon he will have more tenure than anyone but Dabo, whose top flight assistants will be poached. It's all going Clawson's way.

When you put it that way, well, yeah.

Now if he can just find a way to sneak by the worst Syracuse team in a decade and an underperforming Louisville team he'll be in great shape rolling into Clemson as a 30-point underdog. #BuildClawsonStatueNow!!
