Heading there on business for the next few weeks. Just checking to see if anyone has any good suggestions (food, sightseeing, breweries/pubs, etc.).

Too bad you aren't going in March, my friend runs a charity beer festival about an hour north of Manchester. If you have a couple of days off and like scotch, you could take the train to Scotland and visit distilleries.

Thanks. If all goes well on this trip, then I could potentially be making quite a few more flights back and forth over the next year.

Ron Wellman taking over as GM of Manchester United and Chris going to interview for towel boy position? Look for Man U to to fall out of Premier league within 2 seasons.

Get out of the city and go see the country side. You’re super close to the Peak District National Park which has some good hiking. You are also less than 2 hours from the Lake District National Park to the north and Snowdonia National Park to the west. Also, go down to Stratford and see some Shakespeare.

But, don't say you are going bird watching. It doesn't mean the same thing.

Winter birding in the UK is not the greatest to be honest. You do get some high arctic breeders that spend the winter, like fieldfares, wheatears and a variety of shorebirds and waterfowl.
