Republican Voter Suppression Efforts

I've read this in some other articles too. The good news is that it does appear that the steady demographic shifts in the suburbs is creating some new limitations in just how far the GOP can gerrymander some states. OTOH, the fact that they're planning and gerrymandering for a long-term House majority isn't good at all.

Once again, a Republican gets off easy for doing something Republicans say should be harshly punished.

well I think between that, Rittenhouse, and Aaron Rodgers, we're about done with Wisconsin

Republicans can consolidate political power because their constituency is rural and widely dispersed, Democrats can’t consolidate statewide or national power because their constituency is so highly concentrated in dense urban fiefdoms. American geography and economy simply doesn’t serve a political party of city dwellers and college graduates. Without a stronger populist wing of poor and blue collar workers outside of cities, the Democratic Party is doomed to a slow death.

Can you explain how less population density across wide expanses of the country helps Republicans consolidate political power?

Because the American political system is designed for geographic representation and not population representation. The bicameral congressional setup doesn’t do enough to counter that, and in some ways it even exacerbates the disproportionate geographic focus. That is not to say that Republicans don’t take advantage and cheat the system, but the design of the system is what allows them to take advantage of it.
